Description

Riviera Country Club (WV) is a small-town private club experience with a traditional feel and a course that’s designed for repeat play. It’s the kind of layout where familiarity becomes an advantage—learning the safest misses, the best approach angles, and how the greens break can shave strokes over time. The course typically rewards steady ball striking and a tidy short game more than raw power. The club atmosphere is generally community-forward, with regular games, local tournaments, and a comfortable, social vibe. If you enjoy classic, understated country club golf with a strong hometown feel, Riviera fits that mold.

This course doesn't offer online bookings. Call Pro Shop

This place is not what it used to be. Course is not maintained, greens are in shambles and mostly brown. The cart guys are always friendly but the people at the pro shop are extremely rude. They pick and choose who gets to play and when. They will deny you access to play and then let another group behind you play. They also will sit behind you on the first hole and talk about how bad you are at golf to other people. Just take the extra few minutes and go to Esquire.

The course is in decent shape. There's been a drought all year, so i considered it pretty good. Super fast, of course. The pace of play for a Sunday morning 8:15 tee time was excellent. We played 18 in exactly 4 hours without pushing anyone or being pushed. The layout is easy to follow. The course is short, with a lot of par 4s close to reachable off the tee. $40 for 18 with a cart on the weekend is a good price. The staff... they have been scrutinized on these reviews. I thought they were very nice. The starter was joking around with everyone because no one from any of the couple of groups we saw ahead of us could find the fairway. We failed as well. The guy in the proshop was really nice. There was also a lady setup outside the shop selling hotdogs, fruit, chips, and other snacks. She was really nice and my buddy loved his hotdog! All in all, it was an excellent experience, and I will for sure play here again.

Stay away from here not because of it being in bad shape, but for the horrible overbooking of tee times. Caring more about money than enjoyment if u want to have a 7 hour round this is ur place.

Went there to play 9 holes at what I thought was a decent hour. I arrived at 5:10 to pay for two people for 9 holes only to be told that I didn’t get there in time and that I wouldn’t have time to finish in 1 hour and 45 minutes. Both men at the pro shop were rude and disrespectful and cursed at me multiple times after I argued with them. One guy finally conceded and said that I could play but that if I didn’t have the cart back by 6:45 “I was going to have a problem with him”. When I asked him what the problem would be he didn’t elaborate. The other man from the pro shop also came out while we were on the tee box telling the people that THEY LET PLAY BEHIND US that it was going to be slow because we were terrible. To top it all off the course isn’t even in good shape. Burnt out greens, overgrown fairways just overall terrible. Would not recommend this to anyone and if I could give 0 stars I would. TERRIBLE

One of the older men at the pro shop is extremely disrespectful. Threatened some of our friends, he picks and chooses who can play and talks badly about customers (for not being good at golf). Couple of weeks ago he turned my wife and I away stating it was too late even with her scrambling with me (2 hours until dark), only to let another pair play through. Never had an issue until recently but the more I ask the more people have had similar experiences. Would recommend to go to Sugarwood, Esquire or Creekside.
