Description

Classic Golf Club in Spanaway offers a parkland-style layout with tree-lined fairways, slick greens, and just enough elevation to keep things interesting. It's a solid mid-tier public course with a loyal following and good year-round conditions. The back nine features more variety and a few risk-reward holes. It's ideal for those looking for a traditional round without the crowds or price of some bigger-name courses.

Played the last tee time of the day and had a great experience. The course was absolutely beautiful — one of the nicest I’ve played, and at $32 for twilight (normally $57), it felt like a steal. Layout & Variety: Great mix of left and right doglegs, elevation changes, and thoughtful hazards — including some right in the middle of fairways to challenge big drives. I liked the grassy bunker-style hazards too. A few short holes under 100 yards added nice variety. Conditions: Fairways and greens were in excellent shape. The greens rolled beautifully, but were covered in unrepaired ball marks — more of a player issue than maintenance. Biggest maintenance flaw was a few sand traps that had large rocks in them, which shouldn’t be there. Some bunkers also had un-raked footprints, likely from earlier groups. Tee Boxes & Navigation: Tee boxes were solid, but signage was lacking. No hole maps, yardages, or directions — just a post with the par. Without a phone or app, it’d be easy to get turned around. Staff: the pro shop staff were very friendly and welcoming! Final Take: Overall, a gorgeous and fun course with great value. Only downsides were the rocks in the traps, lack of signage, and some sloppy player etiquette. Still, solid 4 out of 5 stars — I will definitely be back!

The greens were fast and true. The bunkers were hard pack and half gravel, some pieces as big as my golf ball. Carts could use some updating, but the fairways and greens were nice!

The course itself is pretty fun. There are 3 holes I could do without, though. The landing zones for those 3 holes are close to impossible to hit even for a decent ball striker as myself. Course knowledge is a must for this course, especially these 3 holes in speak of. 18 being kind of annoying. I hit a perfect 3 iron straight down the middle, only to find I was completely blocked out by a large tree. But again, this is course knowledge issue. The greens are probably the most unique greens I've ever played on. The shape of the greens is very quirky and difficult, and small but I actually like it a lot. No range. Hitting into a net, which is kinda lame, but I get it with the new 18th hole, you have to walk towards the range. So I get closing it off for players coming off 18 walking back to the cars would be in the line of fire. The Proshop/Restaurant was extremely disappointing. Granted, they said they're getting a new proshop. The "restaurant" was very disappointing... The Barqs root beer I ordered was expired by a year, and the chips were going to expire in 13 days... The chicken bacon ranch wrap was disappointing, and I'm pretty sure I'll probably get sick from and we ordered turkey sandwich at the turn was very boring. Just eat before or bring your own food...

About 15-20 minutes from Lake Spanaway Golf Course, we played here in the afternoon after playing Lake Spanaway that morning. This course was in pretty good shape. Some tee boxes were slightly choppy. The narrow fairways were nice & the elevated greens were dry and fast. Some trees and hazards, but not many. It felt like the course was compacted onto a property that was just big enough for a course, as many holes run back to back with little space between fairways. We got turned around on the cart path once or twice, but hey, it was our first time there. Other golfers here were very friendly and helpful. 18th hole is under construction and on an alternate-green. Great course, definitely worth a play if you haven't been here before. We'll be back first chance we get!

Ever since they sold the land (old 9th hole) the place has gone downhill. No driving range, horrible bunkers with rocks the size of your iron head, no pro shop or restaurant (they may call it that but?) I used to be in the mens club but never again until they improve this place. What a shame, it used to be kinda nice.
