Description

Maplewood Golf Course in Renton is one of the Seattle area's most popular public courses. A classic parkland layout with plenty of trees, doglegs, and a few sneaky water hazards, it's a fair test for all skill levels. The municipal operation is well-run, and the course hosts tons of league play, juniors, and local events. A staple for south-end golfers.

A really nice old gem of a track. The folks running the shop were very nice and the views on the course were great. A perfect encapsulation of PNW Muni golf. You won't be disappointed.

It is a beautiful course that was not in the best of shape when I played on July 14, 2025. It has all the requisite conditions to be in a world class category as far as upkeep. The greens were in great shape though. The back 9 is not for the faint of heart. They're just about the narrowest holes I ever played. Accuracy is required for the back 9. I found the diesel carts a bit annoying but all and all, I would gladly play there again. The company I was in was very nice.

We really enjoy their driving range here! They usually have at least a few open spots on the upper and lower levels 🙂

Great course if you like hitting from bluffs and also uphill. Not your average flat course. Highly recommend getting a power cart unless you want a workout. Back 9 flat and normal.

The off season work on the actual course did a lot of good. The greens are pretty nice. They made the sand great. It’s soft and reasonable to hit off of. My only gripe is that I don’t feel that the slope rating matches the course. (117 from the blue in the front and 129 from the blues on the back. I personally think the front is more difficult than 117). Course layout is challenging and you will be punished for bad shots. I play here a ton and over the years it’s really grown on me as a course. I debated taking a star off because there’s no chipping green. I would probably spend so much more practice time here if they had a chipping green.
