Description

Harbour Pointe Golf Club in Mukilteo is a Robert Trent Jones Jr. design that weaves through wetlands, forest, and hillside terrain. The front nine plays tight and technical, while the back nine opens up with dramatic elevation shifts and sweeping Puget Sound views. The greens are slick, the layout varied, and the setting serene. With solid practice areas and great conditions, it's a top-tier public track in Snohomish County.

Positives - nice clubhouse, friendly staff good practice facility (though not many covered mats for when it’s raining). Negatives - not even close to worth the cost. Course is poorly maintained especially for $120+ weekend round (walking). Tons of bare spots and weeds. The Nile, which costs under $50 to walk is maintained much better and has better greens.

Cart person was great; staff at clubhouse was great. Course is in terrible shape. Holes and uneven throughout the 18 holes. And the cart paths are a mess. Spend some $$ to fix them. We were barely moving in our cart and the bumps and holes were awful. My back hurts today.

Value: 5 out of 10, too much to make it my once or twice a week home course. Capitalism at its finest so can’t complain, good for them. Condition: 7 out of 10, we played in rain so will give some slack and bump to 7. Felt like it was well maintained. Tee boxes needed some work, see attached. Difficulty: 8 out of 10, loved the difficulty. Definitely not obnoxious and a lot of fun! Lots of thin challenging holes with fun hazards to strategize around. Green Speed: 5 out of 10, felt just right for weekend out with the boys. Pace of Play: 9 out of 10, only waited a couple of times. Beauty: 9 out of 10, really did enjoy each hole. Great course with some great views Weekend with the Boys Rating: 10 out of 10, definitely a course that plays perfectly for the a competitive boys weekend. Overall: 7.3 on the Vogel scale. Loved the views and difficulty which made for a competitive round. The lack of greens keeping details with Seattle prices were the main negatives

The course was in okay shape but lots of dry spots in the fairways. Greens were very slow. The biggest issue was pace of play. After 5 holes we got backed up and never recovered. There was no enforcement and by the turn we were 3 holes behind pace. I will not be back any time soon, which is a shame because I live so close.

I want to like this course, I really do. I play here pretty often as it's the closest course to my house and I consider it my "home" course but the pace of play here sometimes is just atrocious. The course conditions tend to be OK except on some holes where they have drainage issues. The greens are usually fine and, sometimes, even great. The pace of play though is a bit of a hit-or-miss. The last round I played there, I was playing in a twosome and we were waiting 20-30min at every tee box before we could tee off. Basically, 5 groups would be stuck at one hole for almost every hole and even though we called the pro shop to see if they could do anything, they were too understaffed to have a marshall come out to facilitate pace of play. My buddy and I eventually ended up giving up the round at the 13th hole and drove past about 7 groups before we discovered that at the very front there was a group of 4 doing lessons at EACH hole. These dudes were sitting in bunkers for 10+ minutes trying different shots and hitting NUMEROUS tee shots (5+ every hole between 2 people receiving lessons). It was the most ridiculous thing I had ever seen in all my time playing here. And when we drove by them onto the last hole, it was COMPLETELY EMPTY. There wasn't even a trace of ANY groups in front of them. PLEASE for the love of all that is good, ENFORCE YOUR OWN RULES HP GOLF CLUB. I want to keep playing here and do genuinely enjoy the course when I can finish a round in around 4 hours. I'm not asking for fast play, just one that doesn't take me over 4 hours to barely play 12 holes and forces me to give up. Props to the pro shop though for comping the 9-holes we didn't get to finish, it was much appreciated. Side note: I feel that the golf carts here are due for an upgrade. The handling is horrible and the steering isn't even aligned properly on some of the carts.
