I recently had the honor of photographing a wedding at Willow Oaks Country Club in Richmond, and it was an absolute dream from start to finish. The landscaping is impeccable, the iconic river views make for stunning portraits, and the sailcloth tent is straight out of a fairytale — perfect for elegant outdoor celebrations with the timeless ballroom to accompany. A special thank-you to Susan Birckhead, the venue coordinator, who truly went above and beyond. While many venue coordinators are hard to find on wedding days, Susan was everywhere she needed to be and more — bringing the couple drinks, answering every question with a smile, and warmly engaging with guests to ensure everything ran smoothly. Her professionalism and kindness made the entire day seamless for both the couple and vendors. I can't say enough about how she made my experience with this venue impeccable! Last night my Virginia Photographers group held their annual Holiday event at Willow Oaks Country Club as we have for several years. The dinner buffet was a nice variety of food and delicious and elegantly presented. We had our own bartender set up in the beautifully decorated room for about 35 people. A good time was had by everyone!

I attended the Willow Oaks Country Club for a friends wedding mid September. I enjoyed myself. The building was clean & up to date. Landscaping unkept & all staff were friendly. My husband & I enjoyed.

These guys are AWESOME. My friends and I were tubing on the James river when a really bad unscheduled storm hit. We had to find shelter immediately at the nearest spot which happened to be the Willow Oaks country club. A few other groups that were on the river also had to find shelter with us in their facilities, totaling around 15 people. We were wet, muddy, cold and we were not paying customers. Willow Oaks sent a whole convoy of golf carts to come rescue us. Everyone was super friendly and glad to help. They didn’t care that we got their stuff wet and muddy or that they would have to clean it after. They just cared that we were safe and had everything we need. Once at our car they helped us load our gear and wished us well. I don’t know too much about golfing but the “customer” service here is amazing. We weren’t even customers and they treated us like family.

Was happy to attend a reception as a guest. Found the facility to be in great condition and the staff welcoming and accommodating. Food at our breakfast brunch was sublime. Happy to have had a chance to visit.
