Have been playing this course for about 3 yrs now. I absolutely love the course and the fact it gives me quality time with my dad is priceless, i give the course a 5 but i give it a 1 because of the fact that almost every time we play the staff in the pro shop are just plain out rude and have the personality of a golf ball. There is never a hi how you doing or any convo other than basically what do you want and if you call for a tee time it’s the same, what do you want and then just hang up. If you are that miserable find another job, people are trying to escape the BS and get out and enjoy being away from every day hassle and for me and a lot of others quality time with family they can’t get while working or whatever else is going on. How hard is it to make someone feel welcome and happy to be at your establishment.

What a wonderful experience. Great staff. Good food and a dynamite golf course all for just $45/$55 weekdays/ends. This is a former private course turned muni when the city saved it. Great team running it now and bright future. Stop by and see them!

Fincastle on the Mountain is one of the best municipal golf courses I’ve ever played. The course has amazing mountain views and is a blast to play. The course features small undulating greens, narrow hilly fairways, and beautiful white sand bunkers making it a challenge for golfers of all skill levels. The staff and golfers were extremely courteous and friendly and made for an enjoyable round. This is the best golf course in the coalfields region of Virginia and is a must play if in the area.

For almost $50 for 18 holes you get a decent quality course and terrible, an horrible driving range with mats, and arrogant workers in the pro shop. The older guy named Joe who waited on me was clearly irritated I was asking questions about the course, and threw away my full energy drink I accidentally left on the counter while I was getting my cart and then openly admitted to it stating “I left it on their counter.” I was literally gone for two minutes. There are so many other options at this price point where the people don’t hate their jobs. As a first experience, Fincastle was horrible. 1/10 Edit: Of course the owner states I’m lying. There was a local tournament going on and an organizer offered me a drink out of their cooler in front of Joe after he threw mine away, and Joe said absolutely nothing. Nothing was “resolved.” The only reason I got a replacement drink is because another worker was placing cups for an upcoming tournament a couple hours into our round, and asked if I had issues with Joe when I asked what his name was. To say that “12 minutes” is to long to accidentally leave a drink on the counter after paying $46 to play golf on a course with wet tee boxes and asphalt hard fairways is laughable. Then the owner is telling you guys it was resolved when I never met anyone other than the young man placing the cups, and had to actively fix it myself. Joe nor the owner fixed anything. The young man said they have actively had issues with Joe, and other golfers I spoke to when asking if they knew his name also said he was unfriendly. This tells you all you need to know about Fincastle.
