For a muni, this is our go-to. It seems like they care, which is awesome. Lots of trees and a view of downtown. Even regular sightings of deer and other wildlife. Not super hard (not super easy for me either haha) but fun to play and the greens are solid. They even revamped the clubhouse and the F&B offerings. An afternoon here is also easy on the wallet relative to other munis.

I know 5 stars seems excessive for this muni not exactly in the greatest part of town, but allow me to elaborate. I have been playing this hidden gem since 1984, when it's run as home of The Austin County Club ended. The designer was Perry Maxwell who is revered in the history of golf course design. It is the most affordable 18 hole municipal course in city and always in great condition. And, thanks to the Head Pro Michael Travis, who will likely remember your name after first meeting, it remains at the top of our list for affordable 4 hour rounds. Was actually 3 hours this morning, but we were first group out at 650 and set a torrid pace. Additionally, it has an excellent bar and grill, that doesn't disappoint. If you haven't played here, you are missing out.

I'm going to be honest here for all the other people who might be considering this course for a bachelor party. If you have people in your group who are not very good at golf, or who are newer, be prepared to have a bad time and I suggest you look for a course more accommodating. We'd told the group at Riverside ahead of time we were coming for golf for a large bachelor group, and mentioned some of us are newer to golf. Despite that the staff was rude when we first checked in, and later delayed our start time because they couldn't figure out the keys to the carts. Then after we started teeing off, they kept telling us we were behind even though there was no groups ahead or behind us but our Bach group. And even if we're getting slow, the person who came to us was practically yelling at us and not considerate of our group at all. Extremely rude. Lastly, there were many greens which were not properly kept up, and tons of random poor spots on the course. They didn't disclose this to us prior and we were disappointed, on top of the rude staff. So all in all, if you're thinking about this course for a Bach group party, I highly suggest looking somewhere else where the staff will actually be accepting and make you feel welcomed.

Played here in March 2025 and we overall had a good time- paid $100 for two people including cart fees. No driving range though there is a large net you can hit into for practice. The course length is pretty short so there end up being a bunch of driveable par 4s and some short 9iron distance par 3s. Green rolled true and course is overall pretty well maintained.

Played on a perfect weather day on May. Marshall kept pace of play up to four hours a round(unheard of on most public tracks). Course was in decent shape! Listen you get what you pay for, but for the price, best public course in Austin.
