Description

La Cantera’s Resort Course delivers a true Texas Hill Country golf experience with sweeping views and dramatic elevation changes. Designed by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish, the layout winds through limestone outcroppings, oak-lined corridors, and natural streams. Strategic bunkering and undulating greens keep every round engaging, while wide fairways make it accessible to a range of skill levels. The course previously hosted the PGA Tour’s Texas Open, giving it a tournament-tested pedigree. It’s a must-play when visiting San Antonio.

Our recent visit to La Cantera Golf was beyond frustrating and extremely disappointing. The Marshall completely messed up our tee time despite us clearly stating that our reservation was at 8:10 AM, he had another group go ahead of us. When we tried to explain, he acted like he didn’t believe us and dismissed our concern altogether. To make matters worse, when I finally teed off and missed a shot, he sat in his cart making mocking faces completely uncalled for and unprofessional. His attitude was rushed and impatient, all because he made the mistake, yet somehow we were made to feel like we were the problem. This kind of behavior is unacceptable, especially considering the amount of money people pay to play here. The environment was unwelcoming from the moment we arrived, and the staff showed no interest in providing a positive experience. It honestly felt like we were being profiled, which is incredibly disappointing in a place where everyone pays the same green fees. La Cantera Golf acts like it’s hosting a PGA tournament when in reality, it’s just a local course with average facilities and a serious customer service problem. If the staff spent less time pretending to run a championship tour and more time treating players with respect, maybe the experience would reflect the price. Until they fix their staff’s attitude and start treating all guests equally and respectfully, I can’t recommend this course to anyone. Save your money and go somewhere where you’re actually welcome

Golf course is in great shape and was one of the more challenging courses i’ve played in Texas. Really enjoyed it. Nico in the pro shop and my starter Rex were awesome. Great staff and service.

This facility used to host the PGA's Texas Open. The course is always in great shape and can be very challenging. There are some fairly extreme elevation changes and some blind tee shots. They used to have two courses, the Palmer course and the Resort course. I preferred the Palmer course, but it was sold around 2021. It was the more difficult of the two. Neither course is suitable for a leisurely walk, and carts are highly recommended. Expect heat and humidity. The range facility and service is top notch. Play your tee shot from the tips on the hole bordering Six Flags (#7) for the best view, regardless of what tees you are playing. You're going to have a great time. The hotel accommodations are also pretty spectacular. The restaurant at the golf facility is a nice place to have a drink or something to eat after your round.

This is one of classiest places I've ever seen. Everyone that works here treats you like royalty. The golf course is immaculate and the food is phenomenal.

June 2025 - Wednesday played La Cantera Golf Club for a friend's birthday. Course is in immaculate condition. Not a bad lie on this course. Highly recommended and they have a great beverage special in the afternoon!
