Front 9 is like playing golf in a pasture. Bumpiest golf cart ride in the middle of the fairway as you can imagine. Back 9 is a different course. Tee boxes are in horrible shape. Green sand on greens. Nice carts.

The front 9 is pretty bad in the fairways. Seems like the rough could definitely be mowed more consistently. My group all lost their balls on the 2nd fairway because of high grass. Back 9 is much better. Greens aren't as bad as they were a year ago. Also, no water jugs on the course is really crazy especially in the Houston heat. At least give out water bottles or something. The layout is cool with a few challenging holes, but lots of work to do for it to be a regular spot for me.

I mean where do I start. I paid $70 for a round of golf an expected a good course but man it was the complete opposite. To start the fairways are so bumpy and long grass Tee boxes haven’t been cut in weeks I wouldn’t even call those greens , greens Over all this course is not worth it! This is a $20 course

In February 2025, I had contacted Encore Leisure Group (ownership) to inquire what their plans were for Southwyck since the website claims "Enthusiastically Managed by Encore Leisure Group". As evidenced by my review and everyone else's, the course is not managed in any way, shape, or form. Dale Folmar (ELG) told me the following, "Thank you for reaching out on our info site to ask about Southwyck. Unfortunately, we're well aware of the decline there, but due to various factors. The owners of the Club had been seeking to sell it along with several other courses in Texas, and they have been able to sell almost all of those except Southwyck. As a result of that pending sale strategy, very little to no investment has been made there for a few years. Our staff has done an incredible job of working in a very difficult environment, and we apologize for the golf course not being what you and we both want. We are working on a deal that would allow Encore Leisure Group to take ownership control of the entire property and operation, and hope to have that completed in the next few weeks. Afterward, we will work to improve conditions in the short term this spring and summer, with a bigger goal to hopefully reinvent much of the operation, install a new short course, putting course, significantly improve 9 holes for play, try to bring this into more of an updated venue for golf, fun, etc. Let's get past all of this winter weather, see if we can provide a better playing surface for you this season, and hopefully our plans come to fruition and we have something we can all be really proud of!" Clearly Dale's plans did not come to fruition as either the aforementioned deal fell through or he was just lying to me. What's happened to Southwyck really is a shame and unfortunately, I think the public would be better off if they just went ahead and closed down. Don't encourage this flagrant neglect by spending your hard-earned dollars here. Try Pearland Golf Club or Clear Creek GC (after their greens renovations are completed) instead.

Was in town to visit my son and his family and snuck out for a quick round. This was the opposite of that. Can’t play this course quickly because it is in such bad condition. The fairways are the worst I have ever seen. So bumpy you can’t really drive on them. Huge clumps of grass everywhere as well. The greens should be called sands. Almost no grass on them. Could be a great course, but not worth $40 at all.
