Greens are overgrown by some bad grass. They are very bumpy and slow. It used to be a very good golf course with the best greens in the valley until Mr. Martin sold the golf course. It has been downhill ever since. SO SAD!!!

Play for the nostalgia of what used to be Martin’s but has since been turned into a sub-mediocre course owned by LJISD. I moved here to be near parents, but also because the course was close by. The upkeep compared to the course I have heard or seen from pictures is awful, more like atrocious. Tee boxes aren’t great, no markers, no cut grass, fairways are thick, bare, or both in no uniform manner from home to hole, and the greens are slow and shaggy. Whomever does the grounds work doesn’t seem to know much about golf course maintenance. The rerouting of holes for the aquatic center, took out two holes of the original 18 and left in their place awkward holes that make no sense. Once a 36 hole course, they took 9 holes away in 2022, now it's 2024 and there are only 18 holes. There was once a great grill, but on more. There is a 2 million dollar locker / restroom building that is never used. The LJISD states the course loses $600K per year. I can save you $600K per year. Give it to the six parks in the area. The staff tries their best, but with no support. You can tell by the tiredness of the place. Play here if you’ve got no other options, or feel a need to see what happened to that pretty good course from back in the day, otherwise it’s worth skipping.

This course had pristine greens until the school district purchased. The lack of course maintenance has let the property fall into disarray. Staff is always accommodating, but they cannot make up for conditions. There are other courses in the area in better condition. The location to home is what makes it worthwhile. How can the board of trustees say they are proud to have this facility for the school children? Very little open play outside of the communities surrounding

Play for the nostalgia of what used to be Martin’s but has since been turned into a sub-mediocre course owned by LJISD. Someone, or several someone’s either got duped or had something to gain by having the district buy the course from Mr. Martin. The upkeep compared to the course I knew growing up down the road is awful. Tee boxes aren’t great, fairways are thick, bare, or both in no uniform manner from home to hole, and the greens are slow and shaggy. It’s apparent some staff got held over because they’ve just been there for decades, but whomever does the grounds work doesn’t seem to know much about golf course maintenance. The rerouting of holes for the aquatic center, another poor district decision for another day, completely took out two holes of the original 18 and left in their place awkward holes that make no sense. Also, the staff must be on limited hours during summer. They weren’t open at 8am on a Monday, with no signage stating the course or “pro shop” was closed. Was going to bring my Sun with me for a day on the golf course but I guess we’ll try Shary or another public Valley course. Play here if you’ve got no other options, or feel a need to see what happened to that pretty good course from back in the day, otherwise it’s worth skipping.

All in all, a very good course. Easy to get a tee time for 18 or for a solo or twosome to do a walk on for 9. Total of 27 holes available and, if you want a challenge and can hit the ball long... try playing from the blue tees. I can't hit the ball as far as I used to, so the reds (same as whites) or the golds are sufficiently challenging for me! Staff are very helpful and friendly. Nice course!
