My first time golfing. Tacos were great and the prices wasn't too bad. Had most fun driving the golf cart.

Been coming to Butterfield for years—never had a problem—until today, when Edward Martinez decided to flex authority he doesn’t have, probably to feel something. I showed up in a mid-engine supercar. One premium bag in the trunk, my guest brought his own full set. That’s two full sets of clubs, fully within policy. Edward walks over with shaky energy, talking about how we each need “two bags.” Not only is that incorrect, it’s not even in writing. When I called him out, he started stuttering and falling apart like a used Civic with 200k miles. Let’s be honest: this was less about rules and more about a brokie power trip. You can smell the resentment from guys like him—they’re not mad about the cart policy, they’re mad they’re not in the driver’s seat of the car I pulled up in. And look, I respect that every club needs someone to clean carts and chase geese off the fairway—but don’t come at paying guests like you're running Augusta. Learn the policy. Fix your posture. And maybe show up like you showered. Butterfield, you’re better than this. But your staff? Not so sure.

Most challenging desert golf course in the El Paso/ Las Cruces area. The drive up to the course is beautiful. The views of El Paso’s desert and Franklin Mountains are the best. The Tom Fazio course is a great layout. Love the up close interaction with the desert plants and sand. Most greens had good ball rolling conditions. Some bare spots but nothing crazy. #4 had a temp that was fast. The fairways were in good condition. Wear good golf shoes to walk up and down tee boxes, fairways, greens, and out of bound desert. For owners of the course please restore and cleanup the natural sand traps and desert valleys like Par 3 #9 to original conditions. Tom Fazio would be disappointed with current conditions of them. Recommend a round to all visitors due to course layout, close to airport and Fort Bliss, and the views. And the cart paths are also fun to drive.

Second time playing at this course. Marshals were super pushy with gameplay, attendants and staff were unfriendly. Seems as though they squeeze in way too many tee times. Cashier seemed to be bothered with patrons despite a slow weekday. Customer service is nonexistent. No drink cart girls or service at all for ALL 18 holes. Yet marshals kept driving around asking us if we had beer in our igloo containers - 4 times! Course layout is great but given the location in the middle of the desert, be prepared to lose sleeves of balls all over the course due to all the cacti, foliage and shrubs with thorns. Would not recommend this course AT ALL. Go to Horizon instead and have a great time there.

It's getting better again. For the better part of the last few years, the course had gone into disrepair and it wasn't worth paying to play there. However this year, it seems they have finally figured it out and have been taking better care of the course. The greens are coming back into shape and the fairways have been getting mowed regularly and best of all, I think the entire course has been getting watered regularly, which wasn't the case in years past. Overall, I would recommend this course to most people. It's still a pretty challenging course so, if you're a beginner and want to stay playing fairly easy to play courses, this might not be a course you want to take on until you get some more full rounds in. I have always liked the course but as I said, when it wasn't getting cared for, it just wasn't worth the money to play there. If you're like me who was avoiding it, give it a try soon, you'll be surprised how nice it is now.
