I used to enjoy playing Riverchase Golf Club a few years ago—it was a decent course at a fair price. Unfortunately, something has changed drastically, and the course is now in terrible condition. The fairways were overgrown to the point where they looked and felt like rough at most other courses. The greens were in equally poor shape—patchy, slow, and sandy, making them nearly unplayable. Dry spots and what I can only describe as “sand canyons” ran across several greens, making putting an exercise in frustration. It’s clear that basic maintenance hasn’t been done in quite some time. What really pushed this experience over the edge was the overall neglect. A decaying possum or raccoon carcass was sitting on the No. 8 tee box, surrounded by flies and emitting a horrible stench. Judging by its condition, it had clearly been there for days, if not weeks. We tried calling the clubhouse to report it, but sat on hold with a dial tone for 15 minutes before the call disconnected. Then, on hole 13, our cart ran out of gas. Instead of an apology, the first thing the attendant said was that we “must’ve driven through a puddle,” only to later realize it had simply run out of gas due to their oversight. The lack of accountability and professionalism was disappointing. I don’t golf as often as I’d like, and I was looking forward to a solid Father’s Day weekend round. Instead, I left extremely disappointed. At $70, this round was absolutely not worth the price. I typically try to give courses the benefit of the doubt, but Riverchase has clearly fallen off and I won’t be returning anytime soon.

Decent clubhouse. Greens weren’t bad. The rest of the course was in horrible shape. Crappy cart paths. Very slow play. Not worth $55 a person!

The pace of play at this course is by far worst I’ve ever seen. I was in a threesome and started at 3:10 and didn’t even get to finish the 18 holes because it was so backed up. For how good the course is they really need to get a Marshall out there and also need a bev cart girl. Do better.

We took our 19 year old grandson for a fun morning of golf. Not good. From the very start we were waiting on every shot. The group ahead was a five some of not so good golfers. The course was in horrible shape. The fairways were deeply washboarded. So much you could hardly drive straight down the middle. There were big clumps of weed grass everywhere. The rough was either way overgrown or bare dirt. The cart paths were a joke……holes, cracks, missing spaces. The areas beside the cart paths probably haven’t been mowed this season. Overall, we were very disappointed.

Just an OK golf course. I go there because it’s convenient and close from home. But the course needs a better maintenance. Bunkers are not bunkers anymore. And greens are solid as rock. I like how challenging the course is and with a better maintenance it can be a great course.
