I had friends come in from out of state for a weekend of golf. I called Split Rail a week before we played and asked how the course was looking, if they had recently aerated the greens or fairways, anything that would deter from the course being in good shape. I was told, no, the course was in great shape. I booked a tee time for 4. When we arrived they told us that Hole 10 had some work going on and they have shortened the normal par 4 to a 150yd par 3. Not a huge in convince but something that should have been relayed to me on the phone I think, you know, that one of your holes is in such distress that it is basically closed off. Then we got to the course and what a shamble of a golf course this place is now. Every hole on the front 9 had large areas where I don't if they plowed it or if they took large patches of earth out but it is basically unplayable. Large swaths of fairways are just soft dirt, forget about any kind of normal play. Multiple shots down the fairway end up plugged in mud. On the back nine, maybe 4 holes were playable as normal. The greens were half ok. But most of them had dead areas also. The fact that no one on the phone told me about this before booking is horrible. The fact that when we played our outrageous green fee of $73, no one told us is just unfathomable. I would not play here again until you hear it from friends that it is playable because the pro shop will wholeheartedly lie to you that the course is playable. The first picture is from the middle of a fairway, just about all of them are like this, large dirt/mud areas. This drive was in the mud and had to be removed to play it. The second pic is the crap you have to walk thru to get to this par 3 green. The green was surrounded by dirt like this.

Split Rail Golf Course has one of the best layouts and acreage wise is one of the larger courses in the area. It went thru some challenges over the past few years but is now well on lts way back to becoming a great course again. Michael, Israel, Clifford and others in the Pro-shop are great guys to deal with. Sam the new GM really knows all about golf course management from every aspect and has a proven track record from Trune Golf. Leigh runs the bar and grill and other duties and she is the best in the industry. I highly recommend puting Split Rail on your weekly place to play if you are local. If you live at a distance then put it on your must play list! The course offers 4 different tees on each hole and allows you to make it as challenging as you choose. It is loaded with a variety wildlife and nature making it awesome golfing adventure you will throughly enjoy! I got my 3rd hole in one there on the beautiful #11 par 3 this month. Give Split Rail a chance to get yours...you wont regret it!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Split Rail Golf Club in Aledo is an absolute gem! The course is always in great shape with lush fairways, smooth greens, and a layout that’s both challenging and fun for all skill levels. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment you arrive — they truly make you feel like part of the club. The practice facilities are top-notch, and the pace of play is always great. Whether you’re out for a casual round with friends or something more competitive, Split Rail delivers every time. Highly recommend this course to anyone looking for one of the best golf experiences in the DFW area! ⛳️

Went out the other day with a well known professional athlete from the Dallas area that we share membership from the same country club and we absolutely loved it! The course is a gem and the greens are terrific. A couple of bad spots in the outside roughs that they are currently working on and should be ready in a few months for spring play, but again not in the fairways. Staff was amazing with nothing but smiles! We will definitely be back and it will be apart of our rotation when we are away from our club!!!! Loved it! 🏌‍♂️⛳️- Jeff

Have heard nothing but bad things recently about this course so I had very low expectations when I went to play today . I was impressed with the improvement that has occurred . Tee boxes and greens are in great shape. Fairways are the best I have seen them in over a year . Rough is thick and healthy but nothing out of the norm from other courses in the metroplex . Will be putting Split Rail back in my golf course rotation !
