This was a fun, laid back course. Some of the course was in rough shape, but I think a lot of that could be the time of year. Course marshal wasn't on duty when we first tee'd off so things got a little bottle necked, but he showed up after a few holes and got things evened out. Everyone was friendly and relaxed. We enjoyed a very leisurely round of golf.

Bayou was by far the worst golf course I have ever played. They answer the phone with disinterest when you call about anything. The entire front nine is mud and horribly maintained. To be fair, it would take some extra work to install a bulkhead, but it would cheap and save so much hassle of having to fix the grass over and over again because of all the saltwater. The back nine is better than the front but that isn’t hard to do when you see the front nine. Since the conditions were so poor I expected it to be a lot chiller vibe, but they treated it like we were playing pebble beach. My friend said the last time he played there on hole one he went OB so he reteed and someone came up to him and said very condescendingly that “we don’t do mulligans around here”. Some man rolled up and ripped into us because we drove a little to close to the Tee box, treating us like children, while we apologized. The true cherry on top is that they wouldn’t let me go on the range in a tee shirt which I can understand for some courses, but BAYOU?!!?!! I looked at the man behind the counter and laughed thinking that he was just messing with me until he pointed at the sign. I will be going once more in a black tuxedo and tie to hit the range and never come back. They expect so much class from its players when they have absolutely 0 class themselves. Also the food in the kitchen is just pitiful. At least it’s cheap, but I’ve played cheaper with better conditions.

The decline in this course’s customer service and greens quality is astonishing. I have played at this course on and off for 7 years now, and when I started at this course it was more or less one of the better public courses to play at. Recently however I would no longer say it’s even in the top 5. The front 9 (more specifically holes 1-6) are constantly under “renovation” which is cover for the ongoing fight with the bayou water seeping onto the course. These holes are ranging from 40%-75% straight dirt, I honestly can’t even think of the last time I’ve seen these holes full with grass. On top of this you have staff who treat this course like it’s augusta or pebble beach. I completely understand that if you’re playing it’s expected that you wear at least a polo, but when you start nit picking and criticizing what “type” of polos players can wear as well as the outfits of ride alongs, it’s getting a little out of hand. The final straw for me is how the pro shop employee has no respect or manners for women. On a recent trip to the course my girlfriend tagged along. When we were in the shop paying, the man at the counter gets up from his seat and starts laying into her and dressing her down for the outfit she was wearing, comparing it to showing up to the course practically naked. What was she wearing you ask? A mid thigh golf skirt and sleeveless top that covered her whole torso. This is the same outfit I see almost every young woman wear on course (players & ride alongs) including both of the cart girls who are employed here. When I asked him what the problem was he scoffed at me and told me to make sure I cover her up. I don’t understand were anybody thinks it’s acceptable talking to customers like that let alone a young lady. She was only there as a ride along, and had no intention of playing whatsoever. Don’t get me wrong this course is cheap, that’s one of the only reasons why most people still play here, but if you’re looking for a quality course that will treat you with any kind of respect, you’re better off going to bay-forest, battlegrounds, or even beacon lakes (and that’s saying something).

This course is a wonderful place to learn and play golf. The friendly atmosphere makes the game much more enjoyable. The staff is exceptionally nice and polite, making you feel welcome every time you visit. Additionally, the tee times are very affordable, allowing for frequent play. Overall, it's a fantastic spot to golf and have a great time.

Got a hot deal on GolfNow for last Sunday and would like to come back in better weather. That said, no complaints at all with how the staff in the shop handled the check in. It was in the 40s with standing water and wind between 20 and 40mph - he gave us the option to call GN and get the cancellation for unplayable conditions or play the back 9 as much as we wanted. We decided to play as we’d driven over an hour and would have gone for 27 if there’d been hand warmers - the fairways dried out some during the round but it definitely got a bit colder. Shockingly the greens were spectacular - a little bit of Pomona here and there but they rolled fast and true. Chipping and pitching around the greens was also perfectly fine when you weren’t in too much standing water. Looking forward to coming back when it’s a bit drier to get a bit more roll out on the fairways! I’d also recommend bringing extra water with you, the coolers on the course seemed to have the regular tap water in them and I just don’t feel 100% great about the mildly yellowish tinge and large amount of bubbles.
