Update 2: Greens have improved, but not quite there yet. Earns another star for the progress. Update: I had recently given “The Max” a 1 star review because of temporary greens. They have since repaired their greens, and while they are not yet in prime condition, progress has been made. I don’t know if prices went down, but what I paid today was very reasonable. Aside from the greens still being a bit of a work in progress, the rest of the course is in pristine condition. The course is challenging, but true. Enjoyed my round today, so I will be improving my rating. I am of the opinion that The Max is the best course in Laredo when it is in good condition. While it isn’t there yet, it appears that it will be fairly soon. ————————————————————— The Max used to be the best public course in Laredo, but with the improvements to Casa Blanca, and the 18 temporary greens at the Max, it is now a distant 2nd. Not only were all 18 greens being repaired, but the temporary greens were in rough shape. Never seen anything like it. One might expect that with such rough conditions, the round would be discounted, but no. Comically, they charged us a holiday rate for playing on July 4, despite the condition that the course is in. They don’t even offer a small bucket of range balls as a way to perhaps make up for the horrid conditions. The green fees were twice the amount of what I typically pay at the other course. It is impossible for me to currently recommend the Max. Golfers should stay far away and instead save their time and money to play at CB, at least until the greens have been repaired. Edit: forgot to mention that the pace of play was not being enforced, and the game moved extremely slow, even when accounting for the fact that it was a holiday. It took us nearly 5 hours to finish 18 holes, and the only reason we finished that quickly was because we jumped a few of the slower groups and doubled back to finish some holes later on. Awful etiquette that should have been remedied by a marshal that apparently doesn’t exist here. (The 2nd picture that looks like a photo of a bunker is how all of the former greens currently look)

I cant express how glad I am to have chosen this place to be my wedding venue!!! All the services were excellent, food was great, and the place is absolutely beautiful any time of year. I want to thank Ramon, especially, for helping my dream wedding come true. He went out of his way to make sure we got everything we wanted! 10/10 His service was amazing and professional along with the bartending and servers crew. They all helped me set up my decorations and dinner tables. By doing this they relieved a lot of my stress as the bride. They basically allowed me to enjoy my day because if it weren’t for them I wouldn’t have had the time to go get my makeup and hair done because I would’ve been putting up decorations the entire time. AND NOT ONLY THAT but it was a very affordable wedding compared to other venues and it looked like a FAIRYTALE wedding!!! The sunset was unbelievable and it looked beautiful at night as well!! Having my wedding on the patio overlooking the river was the best part. The patio is what makes this place so special!!!!! I could not have chosen a better location! I have already had so many people ask me about this place and I’m happy to tell them my experience was great!!!😁

We used the venue for our wedding at the end of March. We knew we wanted a location that hadn’t been overused in Laredo but also beautiful. We were so pleasantly surprised that the chef, Lorenzo Serratos was located here! He helped us coordinate everything that went on leading up to the wedding as well as the day of. We were able to take advantage of the outdoors by doing a cocktail hour downstairs and have the reception upstairs. It was amazing because so many Laredoans have never seen the view that The Max has to offer, but people that were visiting from out of town and out of state had such a great impression of what Laredo has to offer in beauty and in taste of food. My now, husband, also surprised me that day with fireworks! This location was evidently a wonderful place to do it as the night sky lit up with large fireworks! Could not have asked for more! Thank you The Max for being awesome!

I was reluctant to take my clubs from DFW.. SO glad I did. Absolutely amazing track. You will not find better greens at a municipal course. Beautiful views. Club house and lunch was amazing. Staff polite and made me feel at home. I didn’t want to leave. Can’t wait to come back!!!

Awesome course! We had such a great time playing here. The staff, especially Itzel, was incredibly friendly and helpful. The course is in excellent condition—not too difficult, but still a fun challenge. The greens are perfect, and overall we had an absolute blast.
