When you walk into the Star Ranch clubhouse, you can expect a clean and friendly environment. The staff are always nice and the range is a steal. All practice facilities are in pristine shape and the view from the clubhouse during golden hour is top notch! As for the course, it offers wide fairways and some very well maintained greens with challenging pin locations. I have never had more fun on a golf course! Will be coming back soon.

The Golf Club at Star Ranch is a public golf course that has a Country Club high quality vibe about it from the moment you drive into the parking lot. The club house is elegant and the food is very good. The pro shop and starter staff are helpful and make you feel welcome. The practice facilities are high quality with balls included in the green fees and the practice mats even have slots in them to tee up your ball. Austin weather permitting their entire course is in stunning green condition in comparison to other courses in the area. The first time I played there I was in awe at how green it was. It reminded me of a Palm Springs country club. The course has lots of water and pristine white sand bunkers, yet it is very playable. If you are looking for the best possible public golfing experience in North Austin, you must play Star Ranch, Avery Ranch and Crystal Falls. All three are uniquely different and offer a complete public golfing experience.

Great course with the best amenities range, chipping green, and putting greens all included in green fees. Greens were 7/10 maybe because of the season? Paid a discounted rate of $50 for a 2pm tee time on a Monday.

I’ve been playing at this course for the past 4 years and have really enjoyed the overall experience, until today. After checking in we got clearance to head down to hit range balls as the staff was just finishing setting up the range. One staff member was still setting up the bag holders that were behind the range lanes and decided he would drive his cart and park right in front of us preventing us from hitting range balls. So we waited without complaining as others started hitting balls. The staff member never greeted or even acknowledged our presence. After hitting range balls we drove to the first tee box getting ready to tee off when one staff member came up to us demanding we have another set of clubs in order to keep the pace of play. My son is only 12 and we’re riding in the same cart and had two putters to help the pace of play. This was not acceptable by any means and the staff halted our play and everyone behind us until we paid $70 to rent a bag of barely 2000 model clubs. I’ve been told by several people who thought it was ridiculous to do that to a 12 year old kid who is just wanting to gain a little experience that there is a new GM in the building and he is running the place like a military institution. After 25 years of playing golf this is the first time someone has made such a big deal over a 12 year old not having his own golf bag in the cart and holding up the entire course for over 10 minutes just to prove they make the rules and we don’t. My family and friends will not be golfing at this course again. We ended up finishing the course in under 3 hours and never touched a single club in the “rented bag.”

Its one of the better maintained and managed courses in and around Austin. Both fairways and greens are consistently in great shape and the course design and layout present a good test for both low and high handicappers. Its practice area/driving range is also exceptionally maintained.
