Description

Fair Oaks Ranch (Blackjack) is one of two courses at this large private club outside San Antonio. The Blackjack course features oak-lined fairways, gentle elevation changes, and a fun, approachable layout. It's playable for all skill levels and a favorite for casual rounds.

Great day of golf yesterday as a guest. All of the staff were extremely friendly and anticipated what we needed from the bag drop to the end of the round. Nice warm up area, driving range with balls supplied. We played the Blackjack course and it was quite a challenge but there were 5 tee options. So, because I'm a relative beginner in my 60's, I played from the front tees to better enjoy the experience. The first several holes through the live oak trees were more enjoyable to play the back holes that play in open areas with few trees or shade. It was pretty hot and cart path only so it would have been more fun for me without all of the extra walking. And we could have played a little faster. But it was good exercise! The course was in excellent condition. Greens were fast but fareways were soft. Course was very well maintained and I was really impressed. We let some members play through and they were all very friendly. Whole place has a great family atmosphere. I'd love to visit again (if I get invited). 😊 BTW make sure and wear a collared shirt. One of my group had to buy one at the pro shop for $100.

I love this place, but I honestly think it's time to put a cap on new members. Starting to get way too crowded. And the gym they just "upgraded" is pretty disappointing. Golf courses are in great condition. Food is always good. Live music Fridays in the summer are great.

My daughter competed in a school golf tournament here, and while the course itself is fine, the experience for spectators was extremely disappointing. This course is over an hour away, and families do not have a choice in which courses school teams are assigned to play. Knowing that, spectators were required to pay $100 plus tax per golf cart just to follow a school event — a price that was higher than the cost to play the full 18-hole course. What makes this especially frustrating is that the carts themselves were basic: no GPS/monitor tracking, no radio, no Bluetooth speaker, and no added amenities. At other courses where our children compete, spectators pay around $30 for carts that do include all of those features. This makes the pricing here feel even more unjustified. This fee was not clearly communicated in advance and felt like an intentional upcharge, especially since parents had no practical alternative if they wanted to support their children. Charging families more to watch their kids compete than it costs to actually play golf is unfair, unprofessional, and unethical. School sporting events should not be treated as profit opportunities, particularly when families are already investing significant time and travel to be there. This policy left a very poor impression and reflects badly on how the club handles youth and school tournaments. I strongly encourage Fair Oaks Golf Club to reconsider this practice if they want to maintain positive relationships with local schools and the community.

Women's locker room leaves much to be desired. It's a stupid little dark hovel that has the most horrible chairs that you can barely move. The air conditioner goes out all the time. The bathrooms have not been refurnished in many, many years. The ice maker is never filled with ice. There's no drinks. There's no way to order food. It's just a ridiculous little place. You cannot seriously call this a country club!!
