Friendly staff, great greens and layout, it’s beautiful here. We have only been here once as it’s been on our list of courses we haven’t yet tried, but will definitely be back to play again!

Nice cheap course. We played the front 9 of the Glen and the greens were definitely patchy, but it was a fairly forgiving course. Looking forward to playing the Highlands next time.

Came here on a Thursday afternoon around 2:00 and what a course! Absolutely loved it. Lots of hills on the back half but a a welcomed challenge. Will definitely come back here, everyone was extremely nice as well. Thanks for having us!

Two stars because the Highlands course is decent and really the only playable public course in the city of Dallas. It being the only decent course leads to the next point that if you're trying to play here as a single - don't bother. They'll force you onto a walk up list and refuse to allow you to book a tee time. Show up and chip & putt and pray they'll let you play a mid public course.

I hate to leave a review like this, but I feel compelled in this situation. I have played hundreds of rounds of golf over 10 years or so of playing and have played this course numerous times before, typically enjoying the layout and cost of this Dallas Muni. I played the Highlands course earlier this week and ended up in a green side bunker. When trying to play my shot, there was about half an inch of sand under my ball, and below that unbeknownst to me, concrete. I skulled the shot over the green, and for my troubles, got a significant chunk of metal taken out of the bounce of my wedge. Upon emailing with the course operations manager explaining the negligence in not providing signage about the possible lack of sand or stakes around the bunker resulting in my damaged club, I was told: “Unfortunately I am not able to offer any reimbursement for the club for the damage. All of the bunkers at Tenison, and most on the surrounding area golf courses, are lined with concrete. Our maintenance staff monitors the depth of the sand in the bunkers on a regular basis but this depth can be altered by things out of our control like other players. It would be similar to hitting a rock that is not visible underneath soil on a tee box. These are risks that are always present on a golf course. I have passed this information along to my course superintendent to address.” I have never played a course and hit a bunker shot to find concrete, nor a rock under the soil on a tee box. As I cannot ground my club in the sand to know how much sand was present under my ball, the “this is normal and your problem” response felt extremely empty. I am posting this to warn anyone playing in the future to seriously consider playing a shot out of the bunkers at this course and to detail the lack of empathy in this situation from the management staff. Thankfully my club is the only thing damaged in this situation, as my wrist could have been a much different story. Play at your own risk takes on a different meaning at that course.
