Description

Greystone, designed by Mark McCumber, offers championship pedigree and natural beauty in equal measure. Routed through hardwood forests and rolling hills, it challenges with length, elevation, and demanding greens. Every hole feels sculpted into the landscape rather than placed upon it. The conditioning is pristine year-round. A must-play Middle Tennessee gem that's as memorable as it is majestic.

In General (as of 6 Nov 2025) Wow—what a stunner. Greystone GC is hands-down one of the prettiest public courses around Nashville, with rolling hills, mature trees, and postcard Tennessee views that get even better on the back nine. At 7,046 yards from the tips, it’s a big-boy layout loaded with risk-reward holes, forced carries, and enough elevation change to keep every club in the bag honest. As a threesome we flew around in well under four hours—almost zero wait time except the usual backup on the par-3s. That alone would be worth five stars these days, if only facilities were improved and the greens in better condition. The course has serious championship bones and feels like it could host a tour event … if, again, only the greens weren’t in recovery mode right now. In Detail - Fairways: Carpet-like and absolutely pristine—easily some of the best public fairways in Middle Tennessee. - Greens: The big letdown. Large sections are burnt and patchy from what I’m told was a pesticide mix-up by the greenskeeper. You can have the perfect read and still watch the ball skid, hop, or die in a dead spot. Frustrating when the rest of the course is this good. - Tee boxes: Level, lush, and well-maintained. - Bunkers: Super soft and fair, nicely raked. - Clubhouse: Functional and friendly staff, nothing fancy and more like a municipal course style. - Practice facilities: Driving range is excellent—plenty of stalls, good turf, and a ton of target greens. $11 for unlimited balls is totally fair. Practice putting green, however, is tiny, beat-up, and has zero flags or cups marked. - Carts: GPS-equipped, fast, and comfortable. Suggestions for Improvement - Greens recovery – Whatever caused the burn, throw everything at fixing them ASAP. The layout deserves tournament-quality putting surfaces, not roulette. - Practice putting green – Replace or renovate the current one. It’s embarrassingly small and ragged for a course this caliber. Add proper cups and flags so we can actually warm up. - Free range balls with greens fee – $11 unlimited is reasonable, but including a bucket (or at least a small one) with the round would feel more premium and keep players happier. - Signage/Information about the greens – A simple note at check-in explaining the temporary issue would manage expectations and cut down on mid-round frustration. Bottom line: Greystone is a gorgeous, big-league track with elite fairways, absolutely gorgeous and pristine views (especially the back nine), and lightning pace of play. Once the greens come back—and they will—this jumps to a Nashville-area must-play. Right now it’s still absolutely worth the drive from anywhere in Middle TN; just bring a little extra patience for the putting and enjoy the ride.

Used to be pretty decent. In terrible shape now. Wouldn’t pay full price for this track. Can’t really record a score with greens this terrible. Nice layout maybe improves next year.

Sorry to say it! But the course has seen its better days. Majority of the greens have black mold growing on them and are covered in divots. I know they are a business and need to continue to make money but they need to spend time on rejuvenating there greens. Twilight tee time (4pm) on a Saturday afternoon was $85+. Seriously better greens in Nashville public courses like Shelby/2 River currently! Which is WILD to say. Been in the Nashville area for 9 years now and this course use to be THE course to play, sadly no more.

Very nice public course for a decent price. Bring your accuracy, several blind shots and lots of rocks to avoid. It’s a difficult golf course imo. The greens had a lot of ball marks, looked like maybe they had been beat up with hail damage. Overall great game experience.

Great course if you’re in the Nashville area. Course condition was great, plenty of elevation change for my Florida flatland blood. Fun layout with plenty of interesting holes. Played as a single and was paired up with great partners both rounds. Add a note, I see the course has received bad reviews recently for green conditions. I played in July 2025. About 2.5 months before this review. Course was in terrific shape at the time. Nothing resembling the photos I am seeing now.
