Description

RiverTowne strings together broad fairways and marsh vistas along the Wando River in Mount Pleasant. An Arnold Palmer signature, it tempts you to challenge corners and water lines for better approaches. When firm, the greens and run-offs demand crisp contact and imagination. With multiple tee sets, it scales beautifully from a friendly resort round to a stern test from the tips.

I only played first 9 but loved the course. Greens were fast but true. Nice people too. Played with my buddy Steve and a gentleman named Dean. Super guy.

Played 7/26/2025. Course was in great shape! Challenging and fun layout. The fairways were lush and the greens were fast. Heat index was 110 and we saw the beverage cart every third hole. From the pro shop to the bar to the beverage cart…ithe staff was amazing! Highly recommend this course if you are in the Charleston area. As for the one star reviews, unseasonably cold winters can negatively impact warm weather grass. Rivertowne has recovered from this past winter. Golf cart had a note that course was going to have scheduled aerification week of July 28. The agronomy team is taking great care of this course.

This USED to be my favorite course in Charleston - to say it has gone downhill is an understatement- now I played today, August 6 I knew that they had been working on the greens. The greens were actually not in bad shape but the fairways, it was like playing in a hayfield. Not only that but several holes had so much water on them you couldn’t walk through it much less hit a ball out of it. Then the cart girl missed hitting me head on by about 2 feet cause she was too busy trolling TikTok. When the course is that unplayable you shouldn’t open. Tell people it’s gonna be a few days let it dry out, mow it. Take care of it. But the $80 I paid to play it today was Highway robbery- I’ll stick to Tidewater -

My wife and I played this course on April 30th. Starting with the fact that I play 135 to 150 rounds a year and last year alone I played in 8 different states, I feel qualified to give a prepared and knowledgeable opinion. This course had the worst conditions of any course I've played in many years, maybe ever. Let's start with the driving range where the balls looked like they had been dug up, like potatoes ( a filthy Pinnacle is an ugly sight) ...on the range there was NO grass, NONE ! As much as I don't like mats , they would have been a welcome sight. My skeletal system would have thanked me . What I didn't realize at the time, was that practicing hitting hardpan shots was perfect for my upcoming round. The fairways and rough had almost no grass as well. On a scale of 1-10, I would give the fairways a 2 at best . the rough would get a better score of maybe 4. The greens were actually the bright spot if you found yourself on the part that had not been "patched". They still had many bare spots but at least they were flat. If this were my course , I would close it to the public until I could get it back in the shape it needs to be in to charge money to play. In fact the members have to be embarrassed that people see their home course this way . Next time someone tells me they are a member there, I will pass along my condolences. Now the money . At over $100.00 dollars , this is ridiculous . Less than $50.00 is too much for what they are offering up. Some people .... like me ... look at the rates and factor them in to the decision of whether to play a course. If it's not at a certain price point I don't want to play it. At $ 100.00 and up , you have my attention, higher expectations, and I become very interested in playing there . Here it is not the case. I wish I had asked for my money back after I saw the driving range and practice putting green. The options in and around Charleston give golfers options . Though tee times can get tight I recommend looking elsewhere.

I played Sunday, April 13th and the course is in terrible condition. I have been playing this course since 2007, and its, by far, in the worse condition I have seen. The fairways are bare and really tight and the greens are patched and bumpy. Lots of thinned wedges over the green due tight, muddy, lies with no grass. Greens are pitiful. They are charging a reduced rate now and I see why. Munnie is in better shape.
