Metacomet Country Club was a historic private 18-hole course in East Providence, RI, originally designed by Donald Ross, known for its classic parkland layout, strategic bunkering, and challenging play before its closure as a golf facility. The site has undergone redevelopment into a mixed-use project called "The Met," with groundbreaking targeted for 2026 after state approvals; a revived 9-hole public-access version called Met Links (designed with input from Brad Faxon) has emerged as an open-to-all option on part of the property. The original club offered excellent conditioning and a traditional Northeast golf experience. Its transition reflects changing land use in the area while preserving some golf heritage. Current status focuses on the new development rather than the old private club operations.
