Description

Mt. Lebanon is a classic municipal-style course in the Pittsburgh area, valued for accessibility and a strong community golf identity. The layout typically rewards straight-ahead shot-making—keep it in play, hit smart approach targets, and avoid compounding mistakes. It’s a popular home-course for locals because it’s time-friendly and repeatable, with strategy that stays interesting as you learn it. Scoring often hinges on approaches and putting, especially when greens get quick and pins are tucked. Overall, it’s dependable muni golf: approachable, community-forward, and a solid test for steady players.

This golf course has become unbearable. A municipal course is supposed to encourage players to come out and play golf, learn the game, and get better. The green keeper here has decided to make it harder than the US Open. Good luck hitting a green and sticking it.. when you roll off you’ll either be met by 4 inches of crab grass that your ball will rest against, or on top off. Making an incredibly hard next shot. Getting better at short yardage game here is impossible. Many holes have fescue higher than your waist 10 yards off of the fairway. There is zero forgiveness. And just makes you wish you never paid to play. If this course was 18 holes and I paid $50 to play, I’d never come back. The fact that it is only 9 and $25 somehow makes it okay. There are far better courses you can play 9 holes for the same price or similar in the area. Tee boxes are atrocious and the pin placements are laughable. They would rather the fescue look pretty than have an even second cut off of the green. Crab grass is worse than my back yard.

Played Mt. Lebanon Golf course today and I was surprised that it was in better condition than a lot of courses I’ve played this season. The fairways were better, rough cut. Greens were great, really rolled nice and held shots. Several workers working on traps. Pro shop staff always very nice. Prices are also cheaper than others. Looking forward to more play this fall.

The condition of the course was great especially for the price. It was the right level of difficulty that 9 holes was entertaining. It is a Pittsburgh course though, so the hills get crazy.

Mt Lebanon Golf Course is a fantastic community 9 hole golf course located in the heart of Pittsburgh's South Hills. It is well maintained and challenging without being overwhelming! Ive been playing there for 25+ years and enjoy it (almost) every time! :) Highly recommended!

The price is unbeatable, greens are nice, but the course itself is really difficult. Always ho for a challenge though. Sure there are better courses but Mt Lebanon GC will always hold a special place in my heart.
