Description

The 1781 Club is a private, member-forward golf experience in Bucks County with a refined, modern-club atmosphere. The course typically rewards disciplined positioning and strong approach play, with greens and hazards that make distance control and smart misses essential. It’s designed for repeat play, so strategy deepens over time—preferred angles, safe sides, and pin tendencies become meaningful advantages. The overall vibe is polished and intentionally curated, fitting golfers who want an elevated, low-friction private-club feel. Overall, it’s premium SEPA private golf: strategic, well-presented, and built for consistent shot-making.

Very enjoyable experience. Pulling in, staff was more than friendly and very helpful. Certainly one of the best club house for a public course that you will find in the area. Course layout is very fun with low scoring opportunities, but also enough challenging holes that leave you needing to plan your next shot. Yes, the course right now is not in the best of condition, but that is the reality of every golf course in this area right now. Picking up and dropping in the green parts is not the end of the world. Especially considering there has been virtually no rain for the last month. Cart paths are in excellent condition. Overall looking forward to playing here in the future, and hopefully after some well needed rain.

We played at 1781 in middle of August, in the middle of a very hot summer. We had a tee time, and paid in the clubhouse. When the amount came up, it was $4 and some change more than the $70 they charge to play a round. I asked the cashier if there was a credit card fee and she said yes. I said “oh ok let me check if I have enough cash” and she informed me they didn’t take cash. I can understand charging the credit card fee, but to not have an alternate option to pay is absurd. So after paying nearly $75, you’d think course conditions would be immaculate. So would I. We got to the first hole, teed off, and our carts beeped and locked to return to the cart path. Not a single person from the cashier to the guys giving us our carts, let us know that it was cart path only. Considering the beautiful summer we’ve had, we couldn’t understand why. We played a few holes and quickly learned the conditions of the fairways were in horrible condition. Please take a look at the pictures attached. Mud and dirt surrounded you on every fairway leading up to the holes. I can’t believe I wasted $75 to play at a course that should be charging $20.

1781 Club Cellar is a great option for casual. Perfect for lunch breaks, solo meals, or casual catch-ups. Membership not needed! This area is OPEN to the public! The counter service here was efficient and friendly. I was greeted quickly, and the staff seemed knowledgeable about the menu. They were patient while I asked a couple of questions, and my order was ready within 15 minutes. There’s no table service, but the staff kept the tables cleaned, which is appreciated. I’ll be back!

1781 promotes itself as a public course with a country club atmosphere, since it changed ownership several years ago. The clubhouse, restaurant, pro shop and golf carts are all significant upgrades from the “Scenic Valley” days. The course itself is no better and in some areas worse than years prior. The service at bag drop and in the pro shop are better than years past. 1781 has reversed the 9’s, so now #1 is the old 10th and the new 18th is the old #9. I preferred the prior configuration as in the past you started on two easy par 4’s to ease you into the round and you finished on a more challenging par 5 than you do now. The greens and bunkers were always in very good shape in past years. Today they were also in very good shape. However, many of the fairways were in atrocious condition per the attached pics. I do not recall the fairways ever being this bad in past years under old or new ownership. At full rack pricing of $70 for 18 holes weekday or weekend the course is on the high end of nearby courses for weekend play. It is non-competitive and not a good value for weekday play at $70. I am not aware of any course inside an hour drive of here that charges this much during the week. The condition of the fairways make $70 on a weekday that much more exorbitant.

Absolutely ridiculous they charge what they do for this course. I don’t think I’ve seen a course this out of shape. Every fairway looked like a wild fire went through (have examples of 2 different fairways, only 2 cause I can’t put 18 pictures on this review). Tee boxes were terrible, craters and extremely hard ground. Greens were okay, but doesn’t seem like maintenance was a high priority for them. Clubhouse is cool, would have loved to have dinner and drinks after my round there, but couldn’t justify giving up more of my money to them. Feel bad for members there, if I was one it wouldn’t be for much longer
