Description

The Meadows Course at Sunriver Resort is a scenic, flowing layout with Deschutes River views and classic resort-style play. Designed by John Fought, it's player-friendly but with strategic elements like water and bunkers to challenge better players. A beautiful complement to the resort's more rugged layouts.

Went here solely for rhe morning to bicycle. Great rental shop - Village Bike & Ski - with courteous staff. Brisk, sunny, frosty January morning but we loved all the views and the extensive paved path! Shopping and a bite in the village after made for the perfect excursion. Shout out to Landmarks Unlimited for some of the coolest, original items anywhere! Artisan postcards? Hell, yes!

We had high expectations coming here because we heard so much about it. I have to say that I'm a bit disappointed. We didn't feel the holiday warmth when checking in. Sure, there were a lot of Christmas decorations and lighting, but no people warmth. The nice people who work here seem like either they are underpaid or have a lot on their minds. They are not happy, not enthusiastic, no smiles on most of their faces. We felt like a transaction more than anything. The most warmth I felt was when I purchased their $300 gift cards. In our two queen suite, we were surprised to find that we can't even personalize the TV in our room. We had to ask a few times for the tech team to come out to try fix it. It still didn't work. We did the sleigh ride experience which was pretty good. It'd be even better if they had offered a cup of hot cocoa at the end of the 30-min trip instead of charging $20 for it only between 4 pm - 9 pm. I also find the location a bit far from Bend or Mt. Bachelor. The Igloo experience was a great one, even though there was not much snow on the ground nor any star in the sky. Austin provided the kind of service we were expecting from a nice resort, attentive, helpful, and most of all, friendly! I callee him our angel. It was nice and cozy and we had a light dinner in there. We enjoyed the romantic ambience, Christmas music, playing boardgames, sipping wine. The kids enjoyed running around the fire and s'mores. Still, I don't understand why they asked us if we are celebrating any special occasion when we booked it, but they didn't do anything about it. After all, our stay would have been a lot better had they done it right at check in. Knowing full well that we booked the whole week for ski trip (but the ski resort is not open due to unexpectedly warm weather), with most of the week cold and wet, they could have shown us empathy and offered us some pointers as to how else we could still enjoy the resort. What was the most disappointing was that I booked in Sep. when no one on the phone was able to tell me if they would offer Mt. Bachelor ski package or not at the time. I found out later that they offered the ski package (with lift ticket discount and complimentary breakfast). I called them prior to our trip to see if at least they would offer us the free breakfast. They refused. Can't help but feel like they say "suckers!" Just not a very welcoming Christmas experience overall. The service cannot compare to any of the resorts at similar price bracket we stayed at around the world or in the U.S.

Overall: The main lodge is very nice and cozy. We loved the Christmas decorations, large fireplace and gingerbread house village. However the grounds of the resort are massive and very car-centric. We spent each day driving between our room, the pool and the main lodge (due to the cold and dangerous icy walkways - they don’t seem to be sprinkling salt on the sidewalks). Even getting out of the car at the parking lot can be quite slippery. Pool: The morning is a much better time than the afternoon which gets noisy and crowded with kids playing. There are one or two quieter outdoor hot tubs located next to the guest buildings, it’s a bit bare bones (no toilets or changing rooms). But the two times we went we had the whole hot tub to ourselves. Rooms: Loved the in-room gas fireplace. The rooms are comfortable but pretty basic (missing things like kettle, slippers/bathrobes, utensils/glasses for drinks, no snacks or minibar, no room service). Also the soundproofing is not great due to the age of the building. The TV doesn’t have any streaming apps available, but if you bring a laptop you can borrow an HDMI cable to connect to it. We called the front desk to deliver some other items as well and the staff were very prompt and helpful. Events/activities: There were a few special events during our visit (eg NYE Pool Party, New Year Day Brunch) that require advance reservations we had no idea about until after we arrived. Luckily the dining room staff tried their best to accommodate us by putting us on waitlist, and we were able to get seated for dinner. We skipped the pool party since it was pretty crowded and mainly for kids. Overall a good stay, would give it 5/5 if they did a better job de-icing and provided some more amenities in the room.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Sunriver Resort for a conference in early October. The property is beautiful and peaceful. Lots of deer roaming around. I was in L228. It was on the ground floor with parking directly in front, but you did need to go up four steps. Something to be aware of if booking the first floor for accessibility. An easy fix would be to replace those steps with a ramp. The two bed room was cozy with a lovely patio overlooking the golf course. Beds were super comfy. The fireplace was an awesome touch. But the closet and desk were a tight squeeze. The service was first class. The shuttles were convenient and can pick you up in front of your room and bring you anywhere on the property. It was a wonderful experience at Sunriver Resort.

Sunriver Resort is honestly one of our favorite place to stay. It’s quiet, tons of trees, and you instantly feel like you’re on a real getaway. The rooms are clean and have everything you need. There’s a lot to do without stressing about plans. Biking, SHARC, golf, walking the paths, or just sitting outside with a coffee. Everything is close and easy, which I love. The vibe is just calm and laid-back. Staff is nice, the whole place feels safe, and it’s great whether you’re with kids, your partner, or just want a break from life for a minute. Overall, Sunriver is one of those places you go to recharge and you actually come home feeling better.
