Description

Heron Lakes' Great Blue Course is a championship-style layout with bold bunkering, water hazards, and long stretches that test every club in the bag. It's the more demanding of the two Heron Lakes layouts, favored by low-handicappers and tournament players. Excellent conditions and links-style features define the experience. A standout among Portland public courses.

My first time ever going golf I’d highly recommend this place! A friend and I played the back 9 on the green side! Best experience ever!!! Thank you guys for making it such a great first time! Will definitely be back for range time and other golf activities! Best sandwich I’ve ever eaten too!

I swear Great Blue could be one of the best courses in the region if it got a little more funding from the city to keep it in shape. Great golf course regardless. The layout is soooo good.

Love this course. Always a joy with staff and players. Lost a star because they charge for your wife to come along as a ride along. Wild. But here's a beautiful photo I captured. Posted edited.

Two solid golf courses but there are a few things that make them really unpleasant to play. 1. The race track on the weekends makes Heron Blue so loud you honestly cannot hear your group talk. It really is awful. 2. The course is kept in fairly poor condition. The bunkers are rock solid (and have literal rocks in them). 3. Small complaint but, 1 beverage cart for two 18 hole courses is just odd. You see the cart maybe 1-2x per round. On 18 holes this is wild to me. 4. The value just isn’t there. It should not cost more than every other Portland golf course. Because frankly it is probably the least value out of any course in the area

I know it’s been hot the past week. But they have absolutely water-logged the Great Blue course. If I want to play on a sponge I’ll go to Camas Meadows. I usually like Heron because they maintain a links-style course and let the fairways play firm. But I was literally getting mud-balls in fairways today. And the unusual positioning of the blue tees today was disappointing — especially on 10 & 16.
