Description

Oak Knoll, located just outside Ashland, is a municipal 9-hole course with great mountain views and a relaxed pace. The fairways are tree-lined and the greens are well maintained, making it a great walk for casual golfers. It's a solid value and easy to access. The setting is especially pretty in the fall.

Fun and different. What can you expect? 1. Meadow style golf. It thick and bumpy everywhere. You will lose a couple balls in the rough. 2. Unputtable greens. That's why the putting holes are 4x bigger then average hole. 3. Paying same price as manicured golfing. I understand they are making improvements and I wish them all the luck. There's alot of potential at Oak Knoll. Go there to goof off and have fun.

Q: How do you know a course is bad? A: When you can lose your ball .... on the greens! "Rough" is too gentle of a word to describe the greens, the fairways, the tee boxes, and the traps. For example, we had better putting conditions when we played mini-golf the day before with the kids. The greens are so pock-mark and full of holes that they make Swiss cheese look flat and smooth by comparison. Come on, you know it's bad when their solution for such atrocious greens is to replace every normal-sized green cup WITH FRISBEE-SIZED CUPS! And even then, it's impossible to make a straight putt without the ball getting stuck in the grassless grid of moonscape on every green. The fairways are so awful that driving the cart at anything over 2 mph risks flinging everything not tied down out of the cart. If you dare to spoil your clubs on this glaring insult to anything even resembling a golf course, then at least take a damp towel with you -- not to clean grass but to clean mud off of your clubs. And the tee boxes? They're nothing more than pieces of colored wood haphazardly thrown down in different spots on the fairways. Simply put, this is not a golf course. One thing is for certain, if you're willing to blow $70.00 for you and a friend to play 9 holes with a cart here, at least you'll have years of endless memories for having golfed the worst course in existence.

The couple that works there is so nice. Perfect course to learn how to play golf. Super welcoming and encouraging. The drinks are good and play is cheap. Anyone giving this place less than 5 stars can go shell out the big bucks and play somewhere else.

I applaud the people trying to keep this course open, however it is in bad shape. E.g. They use larger size cups to make up for the poor greens. Overall, we enjoyed the challenge and the differences of the course but the prices are over inflated for the shape its in
