Description

Kingfisher Golf Course is a municipal nine-hole track that emphasizes value and accessibility. The layout is relatively flat but features enough hazards to keep things interesting. It's a friendly place where the focus is on enjoying the game rather than chasing perfection. Affordable rates make it a go-to for casual players in the area. It's a reminder of the welcoming spirit of small-town Oklahoma golf.

Really deserves a 4.5 rating as it deals with the same thing many courses are dealing with in OK with the abundance of rain and flooding this year. There was no wait to check in by a friendly gentleman and I started as soon as I was ready. The course was fairly flat and “it fit my eye”. The last day of July and I walked the course with my bb push cart. Who would have ever thought it was going to be only in the upper 80s in Kingfisher. Finally, to the grounds crew, many thanks for all the hard work that is never done. You made putting easy today for me.

The course was very hard pan and is relatively flat. Most greens are plateau style and nice. Fairways again are worse than dormant and I can’t see them being nice even in season. Price range of $30.00 is okay for the setup and overall worth. Wouldn’t pay any more. By comparison Lakeside in Stillwater is the same price but 5 times the course. Kingfisher’s front 9 is risky so be aware. The holes run side by side. Golfers literally are hitting into each other. Back 9 way more open. Nice day overall. Staff was very friendly.

It’s not a long course but it seems to be well maintained. Playing in early March the grass has not started growing yet. The greens were in good condition. The course overall is a simple design but still challenging enough for the average golfer.

Check the hours before you go. I went last night for a date night with my fiancé to enjoy the evening after work. We paid the twilight rate around 6 pm but was told that we had to have the carts back by 7 pm. I questioned him why they closed at 7 and not dusk like every other course I have ever been too. By that time, it was too late to golf anywhere else. So, jumped the cart off the sidewalk because the workers were parked on the ramp to get the carts out. We played for an hour and left the course with an hour and half of daylight left. The course was pretty much empty on a Friday evening and nice weather. It has a huge amount of workers from the oilfield in town and most people locally work till five during the week and expect to play until dusk when it’s hot. I think they need to rethink their hours if they want to make the most money instead about heading home with an hour and half of daylight or more left for people to play. Many workers get off at five and only have time for around an hour of golf before they close. Course was in good shape and play was fast since nobody was there! So much for our date night though.
