For the love of God please don’t give this place your hard earned money. They let the course fall into disrepair this season and conditions never recovered. The greens were completely dead and at risk of being so bad they’d never recover. And that’s not even the worst of this place. If you want a private club experience for access to a qualified head pro, keep looking. There are legitimately members here that, other than the day they signed up, haven’t seen the head pro John Daddario. The guy is a ghost unless you catch him on the course playing or in passing. His staff rarely knows where he is and constantly has to relay information to him and trust me you never get the call or email you requested. Personally the only time I have seen John in the last 3 months was either going into or leaving the restaurant managers office or in passing through the building but he will never be bothered to stop and address issues. He’s disorganized, inattentive, lazy and overall just terrible at his job. Events are mayhem and never start on time, prizes are a joke of whatever he has laying around since he doesn’t actually plan anything and our men’s league was a mess this year under him. He can’t even control his own pro shop staff from airing club issues to members, like bills not being paid or personal life issues of people working there. Yeah thanks to John and his staff most people know a lot more than they ever should have. Sadly, the restaurant girl is the best chance you have at seeing the man or getting any kind of answer since there isn’t a GM on site. The lone bright spot but some of her staff absolutely has to go. The amount of members that would celebrate to see a certain male bartender (don’t play dumb we all know who it is) and an older female employee fired is astounding but they remain employed and constantly have an attitude and truly rude things to say about the members that pay their bills. Overall management at this club is so inept and have their heads buried so deeply in the sand that members suffer. GO ANYWHERE ELSE

Private course dues, public course environment. I was among the number of members who were hesitant to stay when ownership changed. Overall I am content with the changes but I am leaning heavily towards not renewing next year. The new ownership had a chance to change the culture at this club for the better and has dropped the ball. I golf with a lot of different people and have been here for years(so this is not my actual name as I understand how vindictive employees and members get) and this is overall the most unhappy myself and several others have been. Personally I’m thrilled with the new chef, thank you for the new menu and actually staying in the kitchen to the point that I haven’t met you yet. The previous chef talked to members more than he worked. The restaurant is benefiting from a dedicated manager, the previous owner tried and is a wonderful woman but admitted she didn’t know the business. communication and hours of all aspects food have been a huge improvement. Maybe look at pricing and run more specials? But overall I’m satisfied there. The course itself is in good shape. They’re doing the best job they can, there are some bigger projects that would be great to see handled like the bunkers but I’m a realist and that costs tons of money and time. However the layout is easily top tier and not just for the area but overall. Challenging, good length, greens are wonderful. You truly get challenged on every shot especially if you are like me and out of position a lot. The thing flat out pissing me off right now is the golf side. Why am I paying, a paying member, seeing the club pro golfing leisurely constantly? I get that the perk to a job at these clubs is usually the included golf but the man was on the course again today. He and his group caused a backup on the course on Memorial Day and members are suffering from his lack of actual focus on work. I buy a cart pass every year, I’m old and can’t walk this damn course, but I’ve been charged nonstop for carts because his staff isn’t trained well and he’s always on the course. Some guys I’ve talked to like seeing him out there but several others find it ridiculous. Full tee sheets and your pro is on the course? That at any other course would be unacceptable on its own without the other issues. He’s not there to enforce things like dress code and I’ve seen outfits that would be turned away from public courses in the area. Also the events never change, everything is strict and handicapped and super serious. All because a handful of our membership, the loud minority, demand it be that way. If you play for fun and like events that let you just group up with some friends and not care, you will literally never play a single club event. Even the holiday events are strictly handicapped and flighted. Which is ludicrous when you consider how many of us would love the chance to bring our out of town family/friends out for a fun scramble and share a course and game we love with them. Maybe 1/5th of the members have an issue with events just being for fun but they’re so obnoxious that they are all that matters. There’s 300 or so members but the event sign ups have gotten smaller and smaller. The dynamic of who is golfing has shifted to people that want to play for fun not to be ultra competitive, get with the times. I myself have vented my annoyance at the restaurant manager and our admin over the dress code and slow play, and as such need to Apologize in person because I was out of line with my language. It’s no excuse but my invoice being messed up from the golf shop and then seeing members dressed like we are a $30 round municipal course just sent me over an edge. This place needs an onsite leader to keep things running smoothly and the GM is hundreds of miles away. The managers all have their own areas and it seems there’s no clear cut leader so there is no accountability. A different club will more than likely be getting my business next year and I doubt i will be the only one.

Food is great, staff is friendly and helpful for the most part. Course is in great shape. My only concern is the length of the course for seniors. It is very difficult to negotiate most of the par 4s in regulation even from the green tees. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoy River Oaks golf club.

I played in a tournament on a rainy day. The course is somewhat challenging, and it's a pretty course. Lunch and dinner were good, but not five star. Very enjoyable.
