Description

Lake Hefner's North Course is a favorite in Oklahoma City, known for its wide fairways and open layout. The winds off the lake are a defining feature, creating challenge on otherwise straightforward holes. The greens are large and receptive, rewarding solid approaches. The course is well-maintained and provides excellent value for public golf. It's a must-play for local golfers.

I love golfing so it’s difficult to say anything but positive comments about a golf course. This course is convenient because it’s relatively close to my house. There are 2 different 18 hole courses. The course is in good condition but with no rain and near 100 degree temps for several weeks it is a little hard. I plan to be back because after all, it’s golf. Just watch out for the attack birds.

Got a burger yesterday. Roach was in my food. Nobody was at the register for over 10 mins so I could get my refund. Used to love Hefner now it’s good is awful and the environment is wishy washy. The course looks great though and great play! Pay those guys and get a new kitchen staff!

The golf course is the worst maintained course in the city. The Superintendents do not have the knowledge, will or budget to rid this course of weeds. It is shameful and has destroyed the lawns of many of the homes that are adjacent. Lake Hefner has no respect for their neighbors or community. I am also including picture of the course from 2016. The course looked like this from 1967-2016. What the heck happened!!! There seems to be no will or desire to fix it and they have allowed so much damage to the homeowners yards that are on the 8th fairway South. I have spent over $10,000 trying to keep their weeds out of my yard. It is not possible. This is why good neighbors are so important and the one fact exists Lake Hefner Golf Course Superintendent & Management do NOT represent the Oklahoma Standard we are famous for representing. They have now mowed leaving it like a hay field to blow the weeds in my yard. Most important the weeds have not been sprayed. My recommendation is the weeds need to be sprayed and Dallisgras has to be sprayed everyweek to remove until kille, it has an extremely deep root and chokes out the Tifway 419 grass that we had in every home in Edgewater Park. Every home's yard is now destroyed. It has to have new Sod because Tifway419 grass is not put down by seed. Our lawns were like putting greens. I have only saved 1/2 of my backward an expert says that will be choked out as well by next year. We have also had to pay to mow and spray golf course property for years. Financially that is not possible anymore. There is just so much disrespect of our neighborhood. I am depressed and saddened every time I look out my windows which cover the whole back of my house and you can see why with how the course used to be maintained. The next recommendation is to make poster size prints of the old picture for the management & staff because many are unaware the golf course used to look like a private country club we were proud to claim. Most employees think it looking like a weed patch that is mowed only after a complaints are normal. The last recommendation is to eradicate all the weeds in Edgewater Park neighborhood and ReSod our homes with Tifway419 or Tiftuf. This is the minimum that is required to rebuild trust and good neighbor relations between Lake Hefner Golf Course and the adjacent homeowners. Many homeowners have lived along the course since 1967 and we know what was normal, a beautifully pristinely maintained course free of weeds, well fertilized to bring the deep green color. All the Superintendents work, watering & any maintenance was done during the night. Today the sprinklers are on during the day instead of at night so golfers have to play through sprinklers and brush hogs mowing and stiring up weeds and dust. I bet anyone with allergies could end up in the hospital. According to the Superintendent they count the skunks in the morning. The number he gave me was 92 and they used to be dealt with so homeowners, their dogs, and golfers were not impacted. They live in the sewers on the golf course and it runs under our neighborhood. The dogs have been sprayed many times. I was also told the skunks, beavers and other problematic over populated animals were included in the budget to be reduced, managed & handled. There are golfers seeing skunks during the day and causing problems. Nothing has been handled, nothing. I was told Mr. Cornett was going to get involved and call me to address issues so far no call. Hopefully that will change. We want the course to succeed and be beautiful again but we want the same for our homes and lawns.
