I came here as a small child and we returned this summer to celebrate my dad’s 70th. We had a wonderful time. The staff were kind, rooms comfortable, the food was tasty and filling. The historic building and one hundred years of being run by the same family makes for a one-of-a-kind experience. The bowling alley was tons of fun. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful Setting, Thoughtful Activities, Limited but Well-Prepared Meals My husband and I first discovered this inn years ago while on an overnight stop, and we finally returned this July, spending four days and three nights in this tranquil setting. Coming from New York City, we appreciated the quiet and open space. Families with children gave the place a warm, welcoming energy. The property offers a wide range of activities—hiking scenic trails, swimming, tennis, badminton, pickleball, bowling, and more - which is important as we are very athletic, despite being middle-aged. We also enjoyed stumbling upon beautiful details: a swing hanging from a tall tree, a gazebo with sunset views, a wooden bridge over a babbling brook—added to the charm. The inn itself is picturesque, with a flower-lined porch and rocking chairs, a library, and a cozy living room with the only TV, a tuned piano, a fireplace, and ample comfortable seating. Our room was modest but well-kept, with a comfortable bed, extra blankets, and a private bath. Our one significant concern was the food. While the meals were tasty, portions were extremely limited, particularly for guests engaging in physical activity. After hiking or playing sports, we left meals still hungry. Each day, we had to drive into town for additional food, which was a frustrating waste of time and unexpected expense to our trip. One example: after paddleboarding at a nearby lake, dinner consisted of a small chicken cutlet and a few broccoli florets, along with a single small, still-warm, crusty roll—so delicious, but far from sufficient. The same was true for lunch portions. A BBQ one evening was the only time we were able to get seconds, as we got in line twice. Meal times are fixed, and the dining schedule doesn’t accommodate longer hikes. On one hike, we had to turn back just 15 minutes short of the waterfall, so we wouldn’t miss the tiny, but tasty lunch. Dinner is served at 6 p.m., breakfast at 8 am, no access to food for 14 hours. There’s also no ice machine or in-room refrigeration, making it difficult to store snacks or pack food - if there was any - for day trips. Their store only sells candy and chips during the daytime. We’re eager to return in the fall—the hiking trails are truly spectacular—but we would need to find a solution for meals. I have hypoglycemia and need to eat regularly to avoid serious health risks, so this is not a minor issue.

Great experience! The hotel is all-inclusive with 3 delicious, filling meals per full day you stay. The room is fairly clean and there is a daily laundry service though housekeeping is not provided. The setting on the outskirts of the Catskills Park is beautiful with mountain peaks overlooking it. Trails (both easy and challenging) as well as cross-country skiing are provided, although an ice storm prevented us from using them. Cozy common areas provide ample seating, a tv, books, and games. There is also a professional-style bowling alley/ gift shop on the grounds. There were quite a few large families with young children, even on Valentines Day Weekend, which is something to consider. The location is also located way up in the hills, quite far removed from major towns, stores, restaurants etc and roads could be difficult in heavy snow (fortunately this was not an issue for us). Has an outdoor and indoor pool both of which are closed when we were there but looked nice. Overall a great experience!

Magical family feel but some outdoor activities would be great, and upgrades to indoor bowling alley and basement feels neglected in terms of fun and cleaning. Almost like guest don’t actually go down there to play. Missed space for opportunity and guest interaction/fun.
