We rolled into Orchard Park Country Club like a traveling board meeting with golf bags—my Vistage crew, caffeine, and a list of “wonderful problems” that only entrepreneurs would call wonderful. You know the type: the good headaches that come with growth, the weird ones that come with people, and the mysterious ones that appear when spreadsheets meet reality. They tucked us into a bright room off the clubhouse, whiteboards waiting, AV actually cooperating (a miracle in three acts), and coffee that didn’t taste like a punishment. The vibe was exactly right: polished without being precious. We dug in—strategy, hiring, margins, the whole therapy-session-for-businesses—and every time a conversation got stuck, you could glance out a window and see fairways laid out like a promise. Dangerous, I know. By lunch we’d earned some oxygen, and that’s when OPCC’s history started doing what good history does—quietly raising the game. The place has those classic, golden-age bones—greens with personality, fairway angles that reward a choice, bunkers that don’t just catch you; they ask you a question first. Recent work on the bunkers and tree lines has that “do no harm, reveal the original” feel. Views open up, greens breathe, and nothing screams for attention. It’s stewardship, not a makeover. We wrapped our agenda early—partly because we’re efficient, mostly because we are not monks—and a squad of us made for the first tee. The course has that “playable but pay attention” rhythm: if you pick the right side of a fairway, you feel clever; if you don’t, you’re suddenly auditioning your short game. The par 3s are honest and a little cheeky, and the greens… let’s just say they’ve read a few books. Now, as a Wanakah Country Club regular, I need to say this carefully. Wanakah is home. Wanakah is where I know exactly how a putt will break—right up until it doesn’t. It’s where I can find my ball blindfolded and still somehow not make par. If Wanakah is my office—familiar routes, inside jokes with the superintendent—Orchard Park is the beautifully renovated off-site with better lighting and a more photogenic stairwell. Wanakah’s charm is that it teaches you humility in increments. OPCC’s trick is it makes you feel like you’ve got a fresh playbook and a good pen. Post-round we drifted back to the clubhouse, which wears its updates well. The flow is smart; the materials feel like they’ve been there forever; and the team runs service like they’ve been doing it since before anyone put a touchscreen on a POS. We found a corner, told the truth about our scorecards (mostly), and raised a glass to a day that actually moved the needle. Here’s the whole story in a sentence: Orchard Park Country Club gave us a productive room, a course with real heritage tuned by thoughtful renovations, and just enough temptation to send us outside to remember why we work this hard in the first place. Wanakah will always be my stomping grounds, the place that keeps me honest. OPCC? That’s the elegant field trip where ideas get sharper, swings get looser, and the clubhouse feels like the right place to land.

Attended an all day meeting there and the atmosphere was great and the service was top notch from the staff. They were very attentive yet didn’t distract from the meeting. I ordered lunch and the chicken sandwich was delicious, even had a nice presentation to it. Great job. Building was very well maintained and the views were beautiful. If I lived closer I would probably look into membership.
