Description

Opened in the 1960s and owned by the YMCA, River Bend winds through hardwoods outside Shelby. Russell Breeden's design favors accuracy over brute force, with several approach shots that punish short-sided misses. Gentle elevation changes keep club selection interesting on the par-3s. The greens are smooth and quick, rewarding confident strokes. It's a welcoming community course with a surprising amount of strategy.

The day's weather was almost as perfect as the greens. They have the championship Bermuda rollin! Quick, true and able to receive a shot.. The tee shots are pretty wide open but with multiple doglegs going both directions is favorable. This course is a treat and I can't wait to return.

The entire staff at River Bend deserve all the kudos in the world for their dedication and hard work to maintain such an awesome course. The people of Cleveland County are so lucky to have this fantastic place to play and experience the sport of golf.

Visiting family in Lake Wylie. Wanted to play golf, and my brother found this Gem! Great course, great fairways, and awesome greens. The course is pretty wide open. Greens are tricky, but fun to play. We will definitely play this course again

Great course. Greens were incredible and course was beautiful. First time out but definitely not my last.

Wow this course is by far in the best shape ive ever seen it in.Greens are in great shape little slow due to alot of rain, but otherwise great shape and for $40 or less on golfnow, u cant go wrong.
