Probably played my last round at the Preserve yesterday. Every time I've played here the tee times are slid to squeeze in more groups and the pace of play is miserably slow, and it's not because of slow golfers. We quit early and drove passed 10+ groups all experiencing the same thing. I get it's a pretty day in the winter and you want to make money, but this isn't the way to do it. It's so overbooked it never has a chance to open up after the first couple holes. Two stars only because the course is nice and in good condition given the time of year.

The Preserve at Jordan Lake is a fun and challenging course, and the Davis Love design really shines. Despite all the heavy rain and flooding we've had this summer, the course was in pretty good shape. You can see they're working hard to get things back to 100%, with a couple of tee boxes being re-sodded and some bunkers that still need a bit of work from being washed out. The greens, in particular, were in great condition. I'm looking forward to coming back to play again when everything is fully recovered. My only real frustrations were with the non-golf parts of the experience. I tried calling the pro shop a few times to get some info but couldn't reach anyone and never received a return call after leaving a message. The hot dog at the turn was also a letdown, stale bun and overpriced for the quality. The beer was a little pricey, but that's pretty standard for a golf club.

Great course with a challenging layout. Would be 4 stars close to 5 if the Bunkers had been raked in the last month. I have played it multiple times in the last couple months and it seems as though my group is the only people including staff to pick up a Rake. Also the greens keeper likes to place holes on illegal pin positions. Greens keeper needs a copy of the rules book. Greens are great by the way.

** UPDATE July 3rd, 2025 *** I've played this course fairly regularly for the past 5-6 years and can say without doubt, the grounds team really deserves some kudos. The current course conditions have got to be some of the best ever! It is the beginning of July and the course is lush and green. The fairways looks excellent (when I actually stayed on them! 😆) and the greens are FANTASTIC. During our round we did stop a couple mowers who looked a little apprehensive at first when we flagged them down (maybe this only happens when people want to complain?) but they were so appreciative when we said we just wanted to shake their hands and say THANK YOU for doing such a great job. To all those working hard out there during crazy hours and in the heat of the day... keep up the great work! It has not gone unnoticed. #ThankYou. [Initial Review in 2019] Played for the first time in over 15 years. The course was challenging but not so hard or discouraging. The course conditions were very good and their greens were immaculate. The clubhouse is nice, not over the top and the food was very good. My only criticism was we only saw the beverage cart once per side. Being mid summer and in the mid-to-high 90's, they need at least two beverage carts roaming the course.

On hour four of what will be a six hour round. Four groups on the 14th hole and we haven't seen a ranger all day. Course is okay, in better condition than in the past, but still only so so. It will be a long time until I return.
