I learned how to play golf on this course. It led me to a scholarship and playing on the All-Army team. It has been along time since I played there but have roughly 2000 rounds under my belt. My main point is that I have played now all over the world and this course is still beloved for two reasons. One, if you think you have it figured out, it only takes one errant shot to teach you otherwise. Secondly, it is a joy to play if you are not into pristine country club (no bad lies) golf. This is golf in a rare form in these times. You can play fast or slow, long or short, and if you come into it with a blank slate, guaranteed to enjoy the whole experience. Of course I am sentimental about it, but anyone I have sent here over the years have always enjoyed the experience. Not Shayla, her Dad.

Used to play there when I was in Jr High. Play 9 holes in the AM. Then go out on the driving range to pick up balls. Back to the club house, get paid for # of balls I returned, buy a sandwich & play another 9 holes. Do it again next day.... Its where I learned to love the game, not where I learned how tho. still looking for that 50+ years later...

I was in a hurry traveling toward LA, but wanted to play this course. It's a nine hole course with two tee boxes to make it a 18 hole course. With just a few feet seperating the two tee boxes, the handicap on the hole can be #1 and #14 (something like that). So, I hit two balls -- one a Titlelist and one a Nike (one for each hole). There was no one else on the course, but me and several native jack rabbits. The course was like a desert course with some fairly decent fairways and greens. Not too challengng, but fun. And I finished all 18 holes in less than 2 hours. Fastest 18 ever.
