Description

Ash Brook’s main course is an 18-hole, par-72 public layout that plays like a friendly-but-legit parkland test. It’s a great “regular-round” track: straightforward to walk through mentally, but still able to punish sloppy driving and careless approaches. The holes are varied enough to keep you engaged—mixing longer par 4s where position matters with scorable stretches if you keep the ball in play. It’s especially good for golfers who want a solid municipal-style round without gimmicks. The facility is also known for being approachable for newer golfers while still giving better players plenty of opportunities to score—or to get humbled by missed fairways and tough up-and-downs. If you want a reliable, no-drama tee time with a real 18-hole feel, Ash Brook’s main course is a dependable pick.

A gorgeous course to play and walk during Fall. But horrible course conditions. On one of the back 9 holes, I smoked a drive off the T, straight as an arrow? And it went into an unmarked creek. The map doesn’t have it - to lose a ball with a shot of the day perhaps sums of the course conditions. On another hole, I fit a ball to the left of the green, and it just disappeared into A bog. No prior warning of that hazard anywhere. For 89$ from outside, it is very expensive for the experience. Yes, divots on greens also a problem.it is a pity - it is otherwise beautiful course with mature trees and spectacular fall foliage. I wonder what can be done about the course conditions though? The water hazards can be marked better perhaps and mapped..?

⭐️⭐️ Disappointing Experience – Course Conditions Borderline Unplayable I played 18 holes at Ash Brook Golf Course recently, and I genuinely wish I had better things to say — but this was one of the more frustrating rounds of golf I’ve played in quite a while. What should have been an enjoyable day out turned into a slow, poorly maintained, and ultimately disappointing experience that I can’t recommend in good faith. Let’s start with the condition of the course, which was downright poor. The photos I’ve attached speak for themselves. The fairways — particularly on the front nine — were full of dead grass, large dirt patches, bare lies, and inconsistent turf. You’d hit a solid shot down the middle and be rewarded with a lie in nothing but dried-out dirt or a crater of dead sod. And this wasn’t just a few spots — it was widespread. The turf maintenance is clearly lacking, and it affects both playability and enjoyment. Pace of play was another major issue. It took 2 hours and 30 minutes just to complete the front nine because of a slow group ahead of us that showed no urgency or course etiquette. Unfortunately, no marshals or course staff were anywhere in sight to manage the pace or move things along. With no one keeping order, the round dragged painfully, and the bottlenecks only got worse as we continued. I wish I could say the back nine offered some redemption — but it was honestly worse. By the time we got to the later holes, it felt like the grounds crew had given up entirely. The 16th hole had a “temporary tee box,” which is fine in theory — but in reality, it was in horrible shape, like someone just stuck a tee marker in a patch of rough. The entire back nine felt like it had been neglected for weeks — maybe longer. With fairways that looked like construction sites and greens that weren’t much better, the course felt closer to unplayable than playable. Speaking of greens — some were borderline unplayable. It’s obvious that no one is repairing ball marks, and the staff doesn’t seem to be doing any routine maintenance either. What would normally be a good putt could easily get knocked completely offline by the rough, dented, or cratered putting surfaces. The only green that was even remotely decent was on the 18th hole — which felt ironic after enduring the other 17 in such poor condition. To their credit, there was a beverage cart girl making rounds, which was a small bright spot in an otherwise rough day. Still, the tavern/snack bar at the clubhouse was closed, apparently due to a lawsuit so no food or hot options were available before or after the round — no hot dog at the turn, no quick bite, nothing. For a nearly 5-hour round, having no proper food service available is a real miss. To be fair, the layout of the course itself isn’t bad. A few holes have interesting shapes and elevation changes, and if it were maintained properly, I could see it being a solid muni track. But right now, the condition it’s in doesn’t come close to justifying the cost or time it takes to play here. Bottom line: I won’t be returning anytime soon. There are too many other options in the area that are far better maintained and managed. Ash Brook needs a serious investment in turf repair, green maintenance, course oversight, and basic amenities before I’d consider giving it another shot.

I’ve been playing Ash Brook for more than 20 years and the reason I give it one star is simple. We have only had a superintendent that knew how to maintain a golf course for about 5 of those 20 years and the course maintenance, specifically drainage and greens is atrocious. Every year the greens are punched once or twice and with the exception of 4 or 5 years it takes 6 weeks to 3 months for them to recover and putt properly again. They never fill the holes properly with the correct mixture of sand and fertilizer. I’ve attached 2 photos from the practice green where on one small area the holes have been filled and the other they haven’t. The area which is lighter color and you can see the sand is filled and putts true, the area that is green look nice but isn’t filled and it’s like is like putting over the Rockies. Disgraceful!. BTW the staff are great and very polite. Shame that the county doesn’t care about maintaining a golf course properly.

This used to be a great course. However now the back nine is a complete mess. Which is fine - Mother Nature does what she does. But they need to make this a 9 hole course and stop charging for 18 holes until the back 9 are fixed. Additionally the club house and the restaurant have been under construction for over a year atleast. The front of the pro shop is also demolished. I hope they get their act together soon. Until then I will miss playing there.

This used to be a wonderful parkland golf course. It has since not so much gone downhill, as fallen off a cliff. For some reason, they flipped the two nine’s. The tee boxes are atrocious, not to mention they’ve literally dumbed down the course by moving them up. On some holes the whites are up 50 yards past where they used to be (to encourage speed of play I’m told). The 10th hole tee box was 75 yards past the old whites. Meanwhile the old tee boxes seem to be in ok shape while we played from junk. The greens were down right bumpy. Not just from jerks who don’t repair hallmarks, but the patches of weeds on many greens. This course always had a drainage problem, somehow they’ve managed to exacerbate it and it’s much worse now than it was in the late 80’s early 90’s. I’m not sure who they hired to fix the problems, but it looks more like the army core of engineers than a golf course architect. What used to be the 7th now the 16th, was a great par 4 that forced you to make a decision, now an ill conceived par three. (Back to back par 3’s? Nice work geniuses!) the 17th par 5 is neutered. As is the par 3 13th. All around a depressing experience after playing a ton of high school golf here in my late teens and then in my twenties. They eliminated a nice putting green in the clubhouse re design and now there’s a strip of mowed grass with no holes punched into it that passes for a practice green. $60 for a $25 round of golf. What have you done?
