Description

Crystal Springs is a resort-style mountain round that leans heavily on elevation movement, scenery, and “big hole” visuals. You’ll often find that club selection is the real challenge—downhill tee shots, uphill approaches, and changing wind can make yardage play differently than expected. The course typically rewards conservative lines off the tee, because mountainous terrain can turn small misses into awkward recoveries. When you’re striking it well, it’s a blast: you get memorable views, satisfying ball flights, and several holes that feel like signature moments. It’s a strong pick for a golf trip day because it feels like an experience, not just a local round.

This is a gorgeous and challenging course (the tee boxes and cart paths need work, especially considering the greens fees). However, pace of play and tee times are definitely an issue. I cannot, and will not, blame the course staff for the frost delay; the weather is out of their control. I was told there was an approximate delay of 30-40 minutes, which is no problem, but we were sent out only 10 minutes after our scheduled tee time and spent the next 18 holes backed up with at least two groups on each tee. Poor starter management led to backups on hole one before I even teed off: (par 5) one group on the green, two groups in the fairway, us waiting on the tee, and two groups waiting behind us on the tee. After two hours we had only managed to play 6 holes. We watched two groups behind us leave the course early, having only played 13 holes after 4 hours and 15 minutes. There were unfortunately no rangers to clear the backup. Too many groups were playing from too far back. This kept pace of play at a crawl. It would be more fun for beginners and advanced players alike when golfers play from the appropriate tees. Given the difficulty of the course (and the price point), it would be nice to see some handicap enforcement for tee choice. It would also be nice to see rangers actively monitoring pace of play.

Great course with a super nice staff working there. Even in fall the course is maintained quite well. My only issue is yearly my buddies and I come here in early fall and play a cold morning round...each year the price has gone up and up and up. I will admit I understand and also recognize the carts have been upgraded, but a larger discount in fall, when cold would be appreciated. Finally, the carts have geo-fencing built in and start to beep annoyingly when taking then even slightly outside that geo fence. There were a number of times that I was barely off the cart path and it went nuts. Kind of annoying and super distracting if someone close by you is also outside the zone.

Played the Crystal springs golf course and it wasn’t too great an experience especially for the high price we paid. After a round of golf, some food and serval stops by the cart girl we ended up paying much more than expected. $40 for a round of beer and $15 hot dogs are a bit over the top. Not the courses fault but there was over an hour frost delay but then they pushed people out one foursome one group after another with basically no time between foursomes. Our round was just under 6 hours. Adding to the overly crowded course was all the leaves, making finding balls difficult, even in the fairway. On the positive side the greens were nice and consistent.

I had 18 holes of golf scheduled for 09/20. We teed off at 245PM. 4 hours and 30 minutes later we had only finished 14 holes. We learned the course allowed groups of 6 to play which definitely impacted our pace of play. For a highly rated course, the lack of oversight in party size is concerning.

Golfed here and loved it. So much fun, almost seems a little “resorty” like they tried to make it so challenging. But it was great to play. The houses are incredibly close and require lots of skill to avoid them. Mogul fairways, trees, elevation and more keep this course challenging. Great prices and love that there are multiple courses on the one resort, easy to play a 36 in a day.
