Had a group that played at this course 9/25, and while the course has a fun layout, we encountered a couple of issues that really detracted from the experience — both centered on communication and customer value.
First, we had three tee times at 12:50, 1:00, and 1:10 PM. The course offers afternoon rates for tee times after 1:00 PM, but this policy was never communicated to us. It was only through our own conversation on-site that we discovered it. When I later called the clubhouse to discuss this, I was told that we got lucky that only 5 out of 10 players paid full price — even though by their own policy, it technically should have only been 3. Our frustration wasn't about the discount itself, but rather the lack of transparency and inconsistent application of the policy. It’s hard to understand how a group with two-thirds of its players teeing off after the discount time could still end up mostly paying full price. If we had been told this when booking (you have to call to book large parties) we would have simply booked the tee times slightly later to avoid the higher price.
Second, the course conditions were not as advertised. The greens had been recently aerated, which is totally understandable for maintenance this time of year. The problem was, again, the lack of communication. There was no mention of aeration when we booked, when we verified, or when we checked in. We only noticed a small sign that was confusingly dated for a later day, and found out on the first hole that the greens were aerated. When I called to provide feedback, I was told that only the front 9 were aerated two weeks prior. That did not match what we saw on the course, where the conditions suggested seemingly very recent aeration on ~15/18 holes. No discount or courtesy was offered due to the timing, but in our opinion, the greens clearly had not had enough time to recover, which affected play significantly. We would have appreciated a heads-up and maybe a slight discount, which is pretty standard at other courses during aeration season.
In the end, while the course itself has potential, our experience was undercut by poor communication and a general lack of customer value consideration. Upfront honesty about discount eligibility or course conditions would have made a huge difference. We had played this course multiple times, but don't think we'll be coming back for future trips.
