Description

LongBow threads through 300 wooded acres just off Leech Lake, delivering a quiet north-woods setting. Designers Dan Helbling and former PGA Tour pro Mike Morley created broad fairway corridors with natural wetlands and large, undulating bent-grass greens. Multiple tee boxes keep the course approachable, but scoring requires precise short-game control. The walk is scenic with frequent elevation ripples, and wildlife sightings are common. Guests praise the conditioning and the course's balance of challenge and playability.

Wonderful Course! Friendly staff! The course was in perfect shape! Definitely my new area favorite! It's challenging but easy enough for us, new folks. We played the back nine.

Our recent experience at the golf course was disappointing and not particularly family-friendly. Our group of five maintained a consistent pace throughout our round; however, we received feedback from a young worker from the clubhouse that groups behind us were complaining. Not once did we see any groups waiting on the tee box to allow them to play through. To address the situation, a young staff member from the clubhouse approached us to inform us of the complaints from groups behind us. Following this, we waited approximately ten minutes at the next tee for those groups to catch up and allow them to pass. Additionally, we found it concerning that the owner drove behind us during holes 16 to 18, observing our game. This was particularly challenging as our group included a less experienced golfer, a high school student who has just started playing, and myself, who is not a professional golfer. Ultimately, we left feeling unwelcome and as though our business was not valued. Throughout our time on the course, no one other than a young boy from the clubhouse reached out to us regarding the concerns of the other golfers, nor did we receive any offers to let others pass. We had a player on our team completely stop playing because they felt so uncomfortable with the owner stalking our gameplay. We hope that future improvements can enhance the experience for all players, particularly families and those new to the sport.

My brother-in-law and I have gone out this year, and last year, as part of a family vacation. Long Bow has been a great experience both times. Course condition, staff and members all top notch. Enjoy your round out there like we did. Thanks, Long Bow Golf Glub looking forward to seeing you next year in summer of '25.

Great Golf Course. Very good condition every time I’ve been there. Staff is friendly, pace of play by other players is perfect. Overall better than many other golf courses near Walker, Park Rapids, and Bemidji. Any golf balls found in/near the woods are most likely mine lol.

I wasn’t going to post about the experience until I saw Gabe’s post. Someone who has never golfed hear and wants to comment on the experience. I have golfed many courses with many types of golfers it usually takes 4 hours to golf with a foursome. Our tee time was 2:40 and we were done golfing at 6:45 with letting three groups of two play through which we waited for 15 minutes just for them to catch up. Let’s not talk about the fact there was a group in front of us I guess they expect you to drive at people or over their heads. At that rate could have played the hole. Then we were accused of the kids coursing divots by running on the greens which was never the case. The kids behave better than most drunk men I see out golfing. The greens were by far from perfect before we ever stepped foot on the course. Every green had issues. The fact of the matter is there was members on the course that were upset and the owner catered to their needs vs the people coming to pay for a round of golf. This was the craziest experience I have ever had at a golf course. Without the crazy accusations and the “peak time” gives one that was approved by the clubhouse before going out because there was so many tee times available at TWILIGHT time. It was far from peak the place was the slowest I have been to in a long time. This could have been handled more professionally and there wouldn’t be a bunch of 1 star reviews. I saw the one before going but took it with a grain of salt until experienced it myself and I am not a new golfer. FYI judging by the last 5 star reviews by someone who claims to never golf here shows that the reviews are being skewed by the owners which is a shady business practice. Balancing reviews with fake ones is not how reviews work. Also maybe get a drink cart lady and this would save a 15 minute trip into the clubhouse at 9 with also the bar being closed at “peak time”
