Description

The Executive nine at Inver Wood sits within a 27-hole municipal complex on 275 acres of rolling, wooded terrain in Inver Grove Heights. Designed by Garrett Gill and opened in 1992 alongside the championship course, it's a compact layout ideal for beginners, juniors and short-game tune-ups while still rewarding precision. Small, well-kept USGA greens and narrow playing corridors place a premium on distance control, and several holes bring ponds and native slopes into play. The facility's excellent practice options - a large range and multiple short-game areas - make it easy to combine practice with a quick round. Green fees are kept affordable and pace of play is typically brisk, so it's popular for after-work loops.

The course is challenging and fun. The only good thing I have to say is about the course. I do enjoy playing there but there are plenty of other great courses for the same price or cheaper. Would be good to find a way to have drinking water on the course. Staff is hit or miss, some are great and others are ridiculous rude. For the cost of play, I would honestly play somewhere else.

Played Inverwood golf course on a Monday afternoon in early September. The course was packed full and we were paired up with a random couple. Course had a great “starter” house and set up and was on time right down to the second for our tee time. Off the first tee, having not played there before, it was difficult to figure out where to aim and hit to. Many other holes were blind bits or blind approaches as well. The course layout would be what I consider “fair,” there was nothing special about it. They or feature hole is #12, a 176 yrd Par 3 with a massive elevation drop. With slope, the hole played closer to 150 yards. Very scenic with wildlife trolling you as you swing. Tee boxes were level and forgiving. Greens layouts were favorable and rolled nicely, they weren’t super fast, nor were they slow. The clubhouse was nicely laid out and had a small shopping area to buy all golf items. If you’re on a time budget, I would look elsewhere to golf because it gets to be a very busy golf course. Took us 45 minutes to play 3 holes. It if you’ve got all day and got nothing but time, give Inverwood GC a try.

Beautiful and picturesque course. I got started in golf from here. It's quite a distance to get here if you live on the Minneapolis side. As for the course most players prefer to rent cart because of the challenging terrain. I took it as a challenge walking the full 18 holes. The only time I made the exception is on a 90+ summer day.

The course itself has always been solid, but the City of IGH has priced it too high for the last several years. The carts are old and without GPS. Comparable municipal courses nearby such as Eagle Valley in Woodbury and River Oaks in Cottage Grove have better rates, newer carts with GPS, and friendlier staff. Do better IGH.

November 2nd and the temps are in the high 40s. Not many people on the course but they are charging "prime" rates at $80 something dollars for a round. The course was anything but prime. Leaves everywhere. Spent a lot of extra time looking for a ball each shot. Then when you get on the rock hard greens you gotta putt over leaves. No cart girl, vending machine didnt work. What exactly is prime? The ranger follows you around and nitpicks anything. Carts on the path? Buddy, the ground is rock solid and you close in 3 days. Lighten up.
