Description

Historic Minneapolis parkland course dating to the golden age, refreshed around the Trailhead complex. Tree-lined corridors and modest elevation changes reward smart positioning. Greens are medium-sized with classic contours and plenty of short-sided trouble. The setting feels surprisingly secluded given its urban location. A modern practice range and short-game areas anchor the facility.

I played today and I am extremely disappointed about the condition of this course! I’ve played over 20 different public courses this summer and this was by far the worst! We haven’t had any substantial rain for at least a week yet this course still has washed out and rutted areas on the fairways, cart paths and bunkers! Numerous fairways have large patches of dirt, sand bunkers have grass & weeds growing in them as well as washed out edges. The cart paths are terrible: rutted and large bumps and wash outs. Very poor maintenance all around! Should close the course until improvements are made to prevent future loss of play - I for one will not play it again.

I've golfed all across the country and this course was by far in worse condition than any I've ever encountered. If Minnesota is the land of 10,000 lakes, I sure hope they included this course otherwise they need to change their license plates. I understand it's rained a lot but the other 4 courses I golfed, including one in a major downpour, didn't flood. This course is poorly maintained, has zero drainage and as a result is a torn up mud pit from tee box to greens. Were it not for the insane $75 cost for a round I'd say go see it just for the novelty. Save your money and go somewhere, ANYWHERE else

Golfed 18 here during a week day morning. Quite busy here, nice little club house. Only knock they had sake for screwdrivers and bloody marys. Thought I would try one and found fruit flies in both attempts. Maybe just get canned drinks here. Everything else was above average, very fun course! Highly recommend getting a golf cart.

We went here for a wedding tonight ...nice little intimate venue . A little distracted when gold cards are going during nuptials..but still great spot for a small wedding. Has a separate bar area and dance hall. There is a patio with corn hole. Free parking ... bathrooms inside and outside. Check out the spot if you have a wedding coming up.

Course Name: Theodore Wirth Golf Course Course Type: Parkland Location: Minneapolis, Mn Amenities/Clubhouse - A good size clubhouse, and pro shop serving good bbq. An average range with an average sized putting green that rolled true. Course Type/Style - A municipal city course with history and tradition. The course doesn’t play very long but can be tight in certain spots. The course offers several elevation changes within holes, going downhill and uphill. The fairways were rolling hills lined by tall mature trees. Be careful, there a couple water holes surrounded by marshland. Tucked away in the city, this course offers all golfers of varying skills a challenge. Course Layout /Design 1. Doglegs - Yes, mostly par 5’s 2. Short Par 4’s - yes, however the layup shot needs to be precise for a good look on the approach, as well as the T if you go for it, water and trees lurk if you are not straight 3. Long Par 3’s - a good mix of short and semi long par 3’s 4. Hazards - marsh, water, woods Course Shape 1. Tee Boxes - playable, some were in ruff shape 2. Fairways - playable, not real wide, some spots had longer grass, not spongy but soft enough for big divots 3. Greens - small, not undulated, very subtle breaks and in really good shape, not fast not slow 4. Bunkers - not the best, hard sand, still recovering from recent rains Service: Excellent - Pro Shop to cart/bag drop/starter attendants Carts: no gps, USB charger, ample space for drinks and accessories Overall: 7
