This course has become a go-to for me and my golf buddies. I stopped playing there 5-7 years ago as it wasn’t being cared for very well. The layout was awesome but it appeared they were letting it go. New owners have taken over and vastly improved the playing conditions of the course. Don and the other folks that run the desk / course are tremendous and very proud of the turnaround (as they should be). This is a true gem and priced extremely well given all the money they are putting into it and the fantastic practice facilities they have there. If this was in Brighton or Oakland county they could get $100 per round all day long. Highly recommend this track and the people that play there.

Beautiful day, course was in great condition. Enjoyed our round. Greens are incredible, not a flat spot on them. Just visited again, excellent condition, elevated my review to 5 star. One of the nicer public courses around.

I think the 4.6 avg this course receives is accurate. Well kept. Nice views. Interesting hybrid style course. Has large fairways and some secluded wooded holes as you would expect in a northern Michigan course, however it also sports smaller greens and lots of native brush grass in a links feel. This second element really brings some difficulty into the course. There are white stakes everywhere, so accuracy is needed to avoid penalties. Good course. 👍

I previously rated Timber Trace a 1 star review including photos to document the horrendous condition it was in after playing a round last summer but am now happily rating it 5 stars after golfing there today! Like many people in the community, I once considered Timber Trace one of the top courses in SE Michigan and was sad to see how quickly it went down hill in recent years. It got so bad I refused to ever play there again and I live on the course! However, all that changed when other community members purchased the course and vowed to bring it back to its former glory. Although it still has a long way to go due to the previous owner neglecting it for years I was absolutely blown away with all the changes that have made in just a few short months. The clubhouse has been completely remodeled, the driving range has new mats and benches, overgrown trees have been trimmed, dead trees removed, overgrown grass cut down, fairways fertilized, snow mold remediated, ponds cleaned up (I actually forgot there was a pond between the 18th green and 1st tee box), divot bottles added to all carts, liquor license reinstated, cleared area on Lake Wallaby loop for improved views of the lake, and they are now working on cleaning up all the bunkers by cutting new edges and adding new sand. The new owners are doing a fantastic job so far and I can’t wait to see where they take this course from here. If you haven’t been back out to Timber Trace yet this year I highly recommend booking a round to see the changes for yourself. I have no doubt you will agree to add it back into your list of top courses in SE Michigan.

Played this morning 9/30/23 - congrats to new management in making the course condition top notch again. Very nice layout. Great value compared to the overpriced and stuffy moose ridge, majestic, and preserve’s of the area. Highly recommend once again!
