Description

George Wright Golf Course in Boston is a renowned public Donald Ross design widely considered one of the finest municipal courses in the country. The layout features dramatic terrain changes, strategic bunkering, and classic Ross green complexes that demand precise approach play. Golfers encounter rugged natural features and thoughtful shot values throughout the routing. The course challenges players through design sophistication rather than sheer length. George Wright delivers a historic and architecturally significant golf experience that remains a cornerstone of Boston public golf.

Great course. 5 17 25. We returned to this tremendous golf course. First I had breakfast at the Hemlock Grille. Then we hit the links. The place is in top notched condition. Of course I kept up with my consistent inconsistent play. The team here does an outstanding job .

Boston residents can enjoy this beautiful course @ $41 only. I walked but it was a bit challenging as some holes are hilly. Many holes need blind shots so that you have to be extremely careful. Geese are everywhere and they don’t afraid of you. #15 par5 hole can be a signature hole. From the tee elevated, you command a long downhill drive. When you have a nice cut driver shot, then you may try second shot land on green. After playing the both, I prefer William J. Devine course.

I was impressed by the layout of the course, very fun to play. Greens were still coming out of aeration, so they were a little bumpy. But overall, green speeds, fairways, and conditions of the course were very top notch for the price to play. Worth your time to play this course.

Excellent golf course, but bathroom leaves a lot to be desired. Also carts are very old and noisy. Cart parts are really nice amd smooth. Overall, a very nice and well designed track amd challenging. Greens were phenomenal.

I played here in June when I was in town for the U.S. Open. The fact you have a municipal course designed by the Donald Ross is amazing, and it lived up to the hype. The prices are reasonable for out of towners. It was in the 70 range per-person for my dad and I, and that included cart. For the conditions of the course, it was well worth it. I've paid more for worse conditions. Also it's cheaper for locals. Finally I loved the course itself. It's challenging since it has elevation changes, blind shots, and Donald Ross greens where they are elevated and can roll off if you are testing the edges. That said, it felt fair. I never felt like the difficulty was a gimmick like a tree in the middle of the fairway, or greens that have 45 degree slopes in the middle for giggles, and so forth. For me, this is fair and challenging golf. Not gimmicky or trying to be too long for the average amateur with 190 par-3s from the whites like some stupid courses do. Overall a great course steep in history. It was a WPA project during the depression, and Boston has a true gem here.
