Description

Black Horse Golf Course provides a straightforward, public-golf experience with a layout that’s usually playable for a wide range of handicaps. The holes generally encourage you to swing freely, but the best scores come from keeping the ball in play and taking sensible targets into greens. It’s the kind of course where momentum can build—string together fairways and greens and you can post a number. Course conditions and day-to-day setup often shape the difficulty more than any single “signature” hole. Black Horse is a good fit when you want a practical, no-nonsense round with enough variety to stay entertaining.

This place is awesome, well it is awesome for the price. The driving range mats need to be replaced, I mean they are pretty bad, balls have seen better days, but good enough. The 9 hole course tee boxes are all slopped which is a bit of a challenge, and the greens are so fast cause it is pretty much putting on hard sand, don't know how else to describe them. But honestly the only reason I did not give them 5 stars is because the holes on the par 3 course are filled 90% with sand (maybe because we were there earlier in the season?) but when my son grazed his hand against the flag stick he got fiberglass in his skin... Little shards, not sure if that is what it was but putting just a little money would go a long way. New flags and maybe dig out the holes with a few new mats... Anyhow it is awesome, but you know it is cheap awesome vs truly awesome...

My young son and I have been playing the 9 hole course lately and it's been perfect for our needs. I want him to be comfortable playing the game before dealing with a fast paced crowded course. I think others have been a bit harsh in their criticism. For $5 to get a course which is almost always empty and in playable shape it's a steal! I will say you get what you pay for so the fairway grass is longer than a typical course and the greens are pretty torn up. If you're looking for a cheap, quiet practice round on a small course then it's perfect. If you want a professional, pristine course, look elsewhere.

Great local driving range! Hitting mats may be a bit worn, but there’s hardly ever a crowd and 5 dollar buckets of balls can’t be beat.

Wonderful driving range and golf course. Lots of room to spread out at the driving range and very affordable! Hidden gem in north Harford County!
