Description

Falls Road Golf Course plays like a straightforward, comfortable public layout that encourages you to swing freely and keep the round moving. The design generally favors golfers who prioritize fairways and center-of-green targets rather than chasing every pin. You’ll typically find that the course’s challenge is more about avoiding compounding mistakes than surviving impossible shots. When conditions are firm or wind picks up, distance control becomes the real skill test. Falls Road is a reliable choice for an easy-to-book round that still gives you plenty of honest golf holes.

Solid public course located in Potomac, MD. Good variety in terms of slope, direction, and distance. 20+ range bays and a practice green. A grill with several dining and drinking options.

For a municipal course, the conditions were great - especially the greens. Good price in line with other public courses in the area. Very walkable course with the tips being less than 6,200 yards and all the tee boxes being right by the previous greens. The pace of play was lightning fast for a public course. The marshall, while friendly, was being a bit irritating about our pace. We finished the front 9 in 1 hour and 40 minutes, and he told us that we needed to pick up the pace of play and keep pace with the group in front of us. They had 2 people, we had 4. The people behind us had 3 guys and they never caught up to us, so there was no reason for the marshal to push us like that. We love playing fast golf, but the marshalls were a little too invasive and being a bit ridiculous about the pace which made our experience a bit less enjoyable. I also heard other people voice similar complaints about the marshall being all over them for no reason. Final pace of play was 3 hours and 40 minutes. Still overall a good experience, and I'd rather have lightning fast pace of play than slow play, so I'll certainly return in the future

Course conditions are usually good, but there's nicer moco courses with way better course design. The staff is also weirdly on edge every time I'm here. Feels like starter is always lecturing each group and then you're a few minutes late to your tee time; and I'm all for pace of play, but it's weirdly militant here in a way it isn't at other moco courses. You can play the front 9 in 90m-ish and you'll still be asked to skip a hole to break some ridiculous time constraint they set for the full 18. (I've **never** been asked to skip hole(s) anywhere else in my life except for this course) If you can go somewhere else, do it

Played here Sunday 6 July 2025 and was super pleased for our first time here. Staff was very receptive and friendly from beginning to end. Cost was about right for the only public course in a mostly private course area, with the location and a weekend round. Pace of play was excellent, in fact, we were the pace group for 18 holes in 4 hours and yes, we were spot on at a 4-hour game - wow, very impressive. The Marshall was checking on us consistently to insure pace of play ahead of us was stacking up to what they desired, so that was quite pleasant to experience - Thank you. The course was in good condition with some areas on the back 9, nearer the woods, where the fairways had suffered from the extreme heat/humidity and tons of rain, so we kind of expected this before our arrival. Greens and tee boxes were in excellent condition throughout with greens running about what you would expect for a nice Maryland course - fairly fast. There was a staff member grilling some dogs and burgers, which was a nice little add to the course, right on the turn, thank you. The layout was scenic with enough challenges and play to eat your lunch if you were not careful, so play smarter than normal. If it looks narrow, maybe that driver isn't the best choice. Trust me, I made that mistake - don't follow my example. We played from the tips as the course is a lil shorter and found the experience pleasant enough to enjoy without feeling we were trying too hard. Our 4-some are all ~60 yrs old and average mid 80 players who normally shoot from the whites. Again, pleasant to play and when we go back, the tips will be our norm. Overall experience was excellent and our group had no complaints. Our foursome definitely recommend taking the time to play the course. To the staff - Thank you as well. Follow-up: Played the course again on Friday, 26 September 2025, from the tips again, and the course was in better condition than before. Yes, we finished, again, right at 4 hours. Awesome!

Overall not a very good experience. The fairways and greens were in spotty and poor condition. We had a 7:42 tee time and arrived well in advance of scheduled tee time. Starter told us that we needed to keep up our pace of play as there was a ladies group after us who would not hesitate to complain if we held them up. Made the mistake of engaging the starter in conversation and he continued to talk with us so by the time we reached the first tee box we were already 7 minutes late for our tee off time. Everything was fine until the starter showed up on the 12th hole and told us we were a hole behind and we needed to pick up the pace. The fact that we were a hole behind was directly attributed to our late start time as we were on pace for a normal 4 hour round (all four in our group play fairly fast). Also the group behind never had to wait on our group since we were on pace. When I pointed that out to the starter he told me rudely that rounds that started before 9:00 were expected to play in 3 1/2 hours. I told him it wasn’t that easy to play the round that quickly and he said that his 13 year old grandson could play in 3 1/2 hours. Nowhere was it posted that we were expected to play in 3 1/2 hours, nor did the starter tell us this in his pre round instructions. It is illogical to think that a 4 hour round (post 9:00) could be played in 3 1/2 hours just because it was earlier.
