Description

Owned by the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation, Firekeeper is a championship caliber destination carved through prairie and rolling woodlands. Notah Begay III and Jeff Brauer created a risk reward routing that scales from around 4,800 yards to over 7,500 yards. Broad fairways narrow into well defended greens, challenging accomplished players while remaining fair to newcomers. The course has hosted elite events and frequently ranks among Kansas's best public tracks. A sizable practice range and welcoming resort setting round out the experience.

One of the best courses I’ve ever played. Hands down the #1 or #2 ranked course in Kansas depending on who you believe and it’s deserving of both. This gem stay and play brings groups from as far as St. Louis and myself from OKC and if you are within the area you have got to play here. Tee boxes and fairways are insane. Greens are tough so bring your A game. If you hit it off the fairway make sure you keep an eye on it as the blue green fescue will hide your ball. I found dozens of balls within inches off the fairway that others just couldn’t see. 😇 Tip: if you shoot around the high 80’s or higher, leave the PRO V 1’s at home. This place will eat em up! Carts have GPS and will help navigate precise shots which are needed on so many holes as the course is hard even for this 10 handicapper. I played the Buffalo tee box and shot an 82. Driver can often bring trouble into play on several holes so prepare for a little disappointment even when a good tee shot looks like you’ve found the fairway. The casino and hotel are just next door , the pro shop has a nice selection of logo items and the quaint clubhouse grille is very accommodating. There are plenty of on course water stations and restrooms. Don’t worry about whatever you pay to play. It’s a legit 5 Star course and it beats most resort courses. Well done Firekeeper 🔥!!

Course is in great shape, as expected. The service was friendly inside the clubhouse and the cart folks. It's definitely worth the trip for our guys' weekend.

Absolutely loved this course. Friend and I tee'd off at 9:30AM on a Thursday and finished in about 3.5 hours despite getting a little backed up on the back 9 (had to wait about 5 minutes on every tee box on the back). All of the staff were friendly and happy to give us advice and ask about our experience. The highlight is the golf course itself. This is the most difficult course we've played in the area. Every hole presents a shot that makes you question your club choice because there are so many well placed hazards. There are several holes with greenside bunkers in the front of the green, which force you to go long, something very few golf courses use. The rough is thick and unforgiving. The greens are fast. The tee boxes and fairways weren't in perfect condition, but they were definitely above average. My friends have already agreed that the next time we play, we'll be staying on-site to play it twice.

I did not enjoy my experience. Played it on a Monday and they had under 2 inches of rain on the weekend and the course was water logged (ie, poor drainage). On top of that, there is no first cut of rough. You need to stay in the fairway, otherwise you ball is almost unplayable. Rough is too high for a resort course in my opinion. Course layout is nice however.

Fun round and unique track. It can play more difficult than the rating and slope leads on with the winds on exposed holes, but fairways are wide and conditions are phenomenal. Great experience from start to finish!
