Course itself isnt bad, I'm writing this review do to a outdated BS policy. I was in town for a Hockey game and had some time to kill so I asked some Dads to play during the day, three others agreed well it was 50 out and 15mph wind that morning so two guys last second canceled, this place then charged me $156.00 for the two that didn't show, when the tee sheet was not full. I've been playing Golf my whole life and have never seen a course do that, maybe thats a thing in Iowa, but no where else... I could see if it was a nice day in the summer with full tee sheet, but come on oct25th!!!! What a joke

I played this course today, looking for a place I hadn’t played before. I visit Des Moines periodically. I came here almost specifically because of the recent bad review. The review stated the course was on him because of slow play… Hooray!! Some players just think because they paid for a round that the course belongs to them alone. They don’t realize every one behind them has to stand around waiting on them. So, good for this course to think about ALL the players. Also, most of the other reviews were great. I found the course to be in great shape, the greens were large and fair. The clubhouse looked new, and the carts were newer and seemed to go a bit faster than some, and their geofencing was not obtrusive. I would definitely pay there again. Good views, water on some holes but not overly difficult if you play the correct tee box.

Value has really tanked the last few years. Getting "owned by a PE firm vibes" here now. Prices have increased sharlpy while value and quality have drastically dropped. God forbid you fall even 5 minutes behind pace you'll have a marshal following you every other hole telling you to pick it up. But don't forget to "fix all divots on the green and tee box, limit your time at the turn to under 5 minutes and only look for your lost ball(s) for two minutes max" too. That'll definitely help keep you on pace. They ask you to be at 2:15 for 9 holes. We finished the front 9 at 2:09 and they still said we were behind pace based on our actual tee time. Reminder - you asked me to tee off early and throw off the all-important pace of play. I also understand we've received a TON of rain the last few weeks but I expected the course to be in a lot better shape for the price paid. There were countless muddy holes and strips on multiple fareways. None had "ground under repair" signals either so they clearly were going to get worse and worse. Unless you are really good and hit everything in the fareway/a ton of GIR, I would avoid this course and spend your $77 elsewhere.

I played this last Tuesday morning. Beautiful day and I honestly loved the course. The only issue I had was the pin placements. We just assumed the guy who placed them had a bad day. They were almost all on a direct slope. Made it very difficult to 2 putt. When the course is already difficult with a decent amount of hazards and narrow fairways, and multi-level greens. It’s probably not necessary to place the pin in between the two different levels of the green, directly on the slope. Like I said, beautiful course, well taken care of, but geesh! I had four footers that rolled barely by the hole only to keep rolling 12 feet down hill.

Always a top notch experience at Legacy. Personally a big fan of the family owned courses that treat you as such and the course never disappoints! I mean come on… any course open in February is doing something right!!!!! 5 stars in my book, must play in Iowa
