Played here on the day after a storm, and the course was perfect. The fairways are absolutely perfect to hit off of. The greens are perfect as well, fairly flat and true. The staff was absolutely curtious and some of the most friendly people I have ever met on a public course. We also ate at the restaurant. The food was regular golf course food hamburgers, hotdogs, wraps, and a few other items, but it was all great food and prepared behind the bar in full view. The only thing I didn't care for was the dust blowing in from the factory nearby on holes 2 through 6. The wind was blowing from the southwest.

We recently had the pleasure of playing a round at Gateway National Golf Links, and it absolutely lived up to its reputation as the #1 public golf course in St. Louis. What really sets this course apart is that it's the only public course in the area with Bentgrass fairways—a major bonus for any serious golfer looking for premium playing conditions. The course is beautifully maintained, with several holes offering stunning views of the Gateway Arch, adding a unique visual element that makes the experience even more memorable. As for the play itself—be ready for a challenging but rewarding round. With plenty of water hazards and strategically placed bunkers, it's the kind of layout that forces you to think through each shot and step outside your comfort zone. It’s not just a round of golf; it’s a true test of strategy and skill. Whether you're a local or visiting the St. Louis area, Gateway National is a must-play. We will definitely be back.

If you’re in the St. Louis area and appreciate a nice course, play Gateway National. Their challenging layout, links style course and bent grass greens are a real treat. We were the 3rd group to tee off in the morning and the pace of play was 3 hours 15 minutes. We both played well and the groups in front of us kept moving along nicely.

Great layout with the Gatway Arch visible at nearly every hole. The course was well kept and very enjoyable to walk.

great public course and bob rays give great lessons for kids! the club house is dated but the staff more then make up for it with great service!
