Description

Bear Creek stretches to nearly 7,200 yards and plays through tall Georgia pines with frequent elevation change. A pair of risk reward par 5s provide scoring chances if you find the proper side of the fairway. Greens are well defended and reward confident mid iron play. It's a popular tournament venue for local leagues thanks to stout back tee ratings. A full practice setup supports both warm up and dedicated range sessions.

The lady in the pro shop was super helpful and kind. The course is in great shape and the greens are rolling pure. This course definitely has some teeth to it off the tee. Overall, I had a great time playing this well groomed course! 10/10 will be back!

I visited Bear Creek Golf Club in Monroe, Georgia with some out-of-state visitors, driving about 1.5 hours each way to get there. We were excited for a day on the course but a few issues made the experience frustrating. though I’ll try to keep this fair. First, the driving range ball machine was broken when we arrived, and it took staff quite a while to get it fixed, delaying our warm-up. The course itself was in okay condition playable but a bit rough around the edges. However a couple of holes have apparently been set up as temporaries which feels like it should have been addressed improve the overall flow. Pace of play was the biggest letdown. Our round took about 5 hours and 10 minutes which I can live with on a weekend. but the group of 6-7 ahead of us was moving extremely slowly. When I politely asked the staff if they could have a quick chat with them to speed things up or let us play through they said no not much they can do and citing it being a busy day. I get that it’s a small operation with limited staff and everyone deserves to enjoy their time but a simple courtesy intervention or allowing a pass-through could have made a big difference without ruining anyone’s day. In fact this is standard procedure for many courses I've played at. On a safety note the golf cart we had was problematic—the brakes didn’t respond well, even when pressed fully, and it would take a couple of seconds to stop. This felt like a real health hazard especially on the downhill sections toward the end of the course. That said the staff were friendly enough otherwise and I can understand they’re doing their best with what they have. If they fix the maintenance issues and improve pace management this could be a solid spot. Unfortunately, these problems overshadowed the positives for us. I’d suggest checking recent conditions before making a long drive.

Great course and absolutely worth the money! The old ownership struggled, which explains some of the lower past ratings, but the new owners clearly care and are doing an incredible job bringing this place back to life. The greens have improved drastically, and the course is fun, challenging, and plays really well. A few hole changes are still in progress, but they’re only making it better. Well worth the price and the wait — excited to see where this course goes from here!

Really bad. Unhappy workers, cart paths seem to have been hit by heavy artillery, nobody informed us a hole was missing — ended up playing a 90 yard par 3 behind the driving range with concrete slabs and a piece of turf as the tee box. Greens were honestly in great condition compared to the rest of the course. Just play somewhere else.

Save your money. This course is terrible. They actually have concrete with turf tee boxes. If I wanted to hit off a turf tee box with concrete under it I would go to a driving range. The holes are also not numbered properly. The cart path is complete garbage. Spend the extra $10 and go play at a different course worth the money, don’t waste your time at this disaster.
