Description

Chicopee Woods Golf Course is a 27-hole municipal complex designed by Denis Griffiths in 1991. Its three nines Village, School, and Mill allow for multiple 18-hole combinations, each around 6,800 yards and par 72. The design blends rolling fairways, wooded doglegs, and water hazards, offering variety and challenge for repeat play. Strategic bunkering and subtly contoured greens ensure it tests short games as much as long ones. Facilities include a driving range, short-game areas, and ample space for instruction, making it a hub for leagues and public play. Its consistent value and solid maintenance have cemented it as a regional favorite.

Went here yesterday for the first time and was highly impressed. The staff was very nice and accommodating, and the course was absolutely beautiful. It was very well maintained, and had some very interesting holes that were well thought out and really fun to play. It seemed a little pricey at $68 for two 9 hole courses and a small bucket of balls to practice with, but honestly, it was well worth it. Im going there again today. I highly recommend this place for sure.

Fantastic golf course with a good 27 holes layout. Fairways were great and the greens fast and true. Staff was great and the practice facility excellent. A must if you are in the NE Georgia area. Recommend.

Mane, you can’t go wrong with selecting Chicopee for a round of golf… ⛳️ Like Sugar Hill, it’s a city course and well maintained. They have 27 holes, Mill/Village/School and they operate it like 2 courses. Today, April 17, the course was still transitioning from winter and green fairways weren’t prominent. But the greens were the best I have seen all year and rolling pure. The Marshalls were cool and respectful; in fact, they ushered us to another 9 after they realized our 9 and 13 handicaps were stuck behind the Post Master’s Crowd 👊🏿👊🏿👊🏿 The cart girl is a vet and she will take care of your needs. The club house is clean and golf ready. The grill used to be the bomb with a bad ass cook but I’m not sure if he is still working. I didn’t visit today. With that, Chicopee GC is an old gem in Gainesville and worth the drive. It’s a step above Royal Lakes and Chattahoochee GC. The course is fair and the pace of play is usually 4 hours or less. However, my only complaint is the price hike!! Holy Cow Batman, the prices have jumped about $25 for both week days and the weekends. Today I paid $60 but the weekend is clocking in at a cool $90-$100! WTH! Chimneys in Winder did the same thing, as municipal course. If you play, call M-TH.

Enjoyed a round. Really enjoyed the course a lot. Was my first time. The course has a great layout. This was the day after a huge rain storm in the area and still loved it. Great helpful friendly staff. Really great pro shop with a lot of stuff. Greens rolled great even after a aeration that must have been a couple weeks ago. Look forward to playing a tourney there Monday.

I am a local resident and I have been playing this course for 25 years. The course layout, condition, food, and practice facility are all 5 stars. Staff are always friendly. But, you have to tolerate poor decisions by the starter that will ruin your pace of play and rangers who occasionally drive around, but never say anything to slow groups ahead of you. I can’t remember the last time I was able to get in a round in less than 4.5 hours on weekday afternoons. I quit playing on the weekends when I played my first six hour round due to over crowding and slow play. I played yesterday and my group arrived at the starter house 5 minutes before our tee time only to find a line of two groups ahead of us trying to check-in and get started. The first group finally was sent on their way, but the next group was sweet talking the starter into “squeezing them in” because they “lost track of time” and arrived 20 minutes after their tee time. We stood there for five minutes while the starter messed around on the computer and he finally said I’ll just squeeze you in front of “this group.” Well, that was my group he squeezed them in front of and long story short, we ended up teeing off 18 minutes after our tee time and didn’t get to finish our round. We were on pace for an over 5hr round. I always come away frustrated and telling myself to go to other local courses that are better managed. They are just trying to cram in way too many rounds and they are choosing quantity over quality.
