Description

Formerly Emerald Pointe, this course sits on the shores of Lake Lanier with water visible on many holes. The design incorporates dramatic elevation change and carries over coves, especially on the par 3s. It's a popular resort course known for scenery and resort amenities. Bermuda fairways and bentgrass greens provide solid conditioning. Practice range, putting and short game areas are on site.

This golf course is stunning, with several holes designed along the lake, offering beautiful scenery. The highlight is the third hole, which resembles a harbor and often has many yachts docked. The people on the yachts use loudspeakers to guide and comment on your play, much like a TV game show host. After you tee off, they provide tips on how to improve your next shot. It's a delightful and unique experience.

It's January, but if it was spring or summer, the scenery would have been very nice. Everything was good except for a lot of damage to the grass at the tee box. The speed of the putting green was surprisingly fast, the practice range was well organized, and the staff was kind. The course was fun because it was tricky to play. It was a more satisfying round than a similarly priced golf course in Florida. I want to play again in the summer.

Title: Unacceptable Course Management, Unprofessional Staff, and Blatant Double Standards I recently organized a 12-player outing (three consecutive tee times) at Legacy on Lanier. While our front nine went smoothly, the pro shop made an inexplicable and completely amateur decision to squeeze an unscheduled group of young women right in front of our second group at the 10th hole. To make matters exponentially worse, they allowed this inserted group to play as a 5-some starting on the 11th hole. Anyone who plays golf understands that allowing a 5-some, especially squeezing them into the middle of an organized outing at the turn, is a severe violation of pace-of-play and basic golf etiquette. When our group rightfully went to the clubhouse to complain about this absurd course management, the staff's response was not only dismissive but openly combative. Instead of apologizing for their blatant operational failure, they offered ridiculous excuses like, "You were playing fast anyway," and "You already played 9 holes fine." It is incredibly difficult not to conclude that a blatant double standard was applied here. Had our group of Asian-American players attempted to force a 5-some in the middle of a busy weekend schedule, we would have been strictly prohibited and reprimanded by the staff. The fact that the management bent over backwards to accommodate this for another demographic, while completely disregarding a scheduled 12-player outing, speaks volumes about their operational integrity and customer service. After a heated argument, we demanded and received a full refund for our entire party. However, the sheer disrespect, discriminatory vibe, and lack of professionalism from the clubhouse staff completely ruined what should have been a great outing. I strongly advise anyone looking to organize a serious round or a group outing to look elsewhere. A supposedly premium course should provide premium management, not this kind of chaotic, disrespectful, and amateurish experience.

Our group of 12 had one of the most frustrating golf experiences we’ve had in a long time at this course. We booked consecutive tee times specifically to keep our round moving smoothly. However, when we made the turn, the course inserted a five-player group between our groups starting on the #10 tee. This immediately disrupted the flow of play for our entire group. The situation became even worse because the five-player group was playing slowly. Anyone familiar with basic golf course management knows that allowing a group of five to start in the middle of other groups is already questionable, but inserting them between consecutive tee times is simply poor course management. When we reported the issue to the clubhouse, we were told a marshal would be sent to manage the situation. No marshal ever came. Later we were told the group had been allowed to start on #10 with the expectation that they would “play fast.” Unfortunately, that clearly did not happen, and the decision negatively impacted our round. What was most disappointing was the response from management. Instead of acknowledging the operational mistake or trying to resolve the issue in a meaningful way, the response was essentially to offer a refund and dismiss the concern. Pace of play is one of the most basic responsibilities of any golf course. Inserting a slow five-player group between existing tee times shows a serious lack of consideration for the players already on the course. Because of the way this situation was handled both on the course and afterward, I cannot recommend this course to golfers who expect professional course management or respect for their time.

On Wednesday, March 4th, our group of 12 had confirmed tee times at 1:00 PM, 1:10 PM, and 1:20 PM. While the front nine proceeded without issue, we encountered an unacceptable situation starting at the 10th hole. Despite having consecutive tee times for our 12 players, we suddenly found a group of 5 women on the 10th green and another individual woman cutting ahead of us to the 11th tee. This effectively forced a 5-some and a single player directly between our 1:00 PM and 1:10 PM groups. When we contacted the clubhouse, we were initially told a marshal would be sent to mediate. However, we later discovered this was a lie. The male staff member at the clubhouse had intentionally directed those 6 players (who had only paid for 9 holes) to jump into the back nine because the front nine was occupied by a junior tournament or practice. The staff member’s actions were fundamentally flawed for the following reasons: Allowing a 5-some to play, which is against standard golf etiquette and slows down the entire course. Inserting extra players into the middle of a pre-booked 12-person group, disrupting our pace and experience. Selling tee times that did not exist. By overbooking the front nine for juniors, he chose to "sacrifice" our 18-hole experience to accommodate 9-hole walk-ins. Most appalling was the staff member's attitude. When we confronted him, he showed no remorse and threatened us by saying: "9-hole rain check, or refund for 18 hole and you'll never come back?" Using a refund as a threat to "ban" customers who are rightfully complaining about poor management is unheard of in professional business. He chose to lose the revenue of twelve 18-hole players and tarnish the course's reputation just to accommodate six 9-hole players. We have taken the full refund and intend never to return, but we want it documented that this was a blatant failure of management and customer service.
